Summary
What if you were a shape-shifter, but didn't know it?
What if the man who raised you orchestrated your father's execution?
What if you discover that the people closest to you have been lying to you all your life?
Book two in the award-winning contemporary fantasy trilogy about a tribe of shape-shifters in Northern Maine, USA.
On a cold October morning in Blackwater Hills, Samuel Singleton steps outside to do his morning chores and is whisked through a portal into the domain of the witch goddess known as the Shadowlands.
On a cold October evening, Cadie Maxwell, a priestess newly sworn to the Sacred Order, follows what she believes is the will of the gods and flees the only home she has ever known on a quest to find the truth about Corvus's Sacred Law - a law that demands that every male cursed with shapeshifting powers must be executed. Cadie arrives in a small town called Ashland, and takes a job at a local bar and grill. There she meets Jonathan and Sarina Lance, who are desperate to locate their missing father, best-selling novelist J. Lance Sr.
On a mission to rescue J. Lance Sr., Cadie guides the outsiders through the Great Shield, a powerful force field that protects her homeland. But instead of the missing novelist, Cadie finds her childhood friend, Samuel delirious and showing signs of suffering from the blood madness.
Can she save Samuel’s life, and get her friends safely back to Ashland while exposing the corruption within the priesthood, forswearing her holy vows, and uncovering the truth about her gods and her tribe?

Riveting!
Merula is the second instalment the Children of Corvus paranormal fantasy trilogy (which is also something of a thriller) and is just as well written as the first. Plenty of mystery, suspense and action. LE Harrison includes lots of twists and turns in the story which kept me riveted to the end. Excellent narration by Andrew McDermott and a vast improvement on the narrator of the first book (Blackbird). Andrew McDermott’s voice and accent fit well with the narration of fantasy genre books. He also produces a fair range of voices for different characters. This all makes for very pleasant listening and gives an extra dimension to LE Harrison’s vivid and expressive writing.

great book
A witch and a son of Corvus must combine their powers to defeat the witch goddess and save the souls of the Merulas trapped inside the Shadowlands.
Corvus is book three in the compelling contemporary fantasy trilogy about a tribe of shapeshifters, deep within the inhospitable forest of northern Maine USA, in an alternate dimension known as Blackwater Hills.
I really enjoyed this book can't wait for more by L. E. Harrison

Excellent!
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
I thought book one was good but this surpasses my expectations and same as book one I couldn’t stop listening and was awake all night until I finished it. Although I am left with more questions than answers so I need to listen to book 3 🙂
