After one final insult, Lorry Lockharte leaves her abusive husband stranded at the Grand Canyon. Returning home, she finds their house repossessed and her elderly employer deceased. Her cousin gets her a job at the Rutledge Historical Society after the previous employee had a fatal accident with a steep set of stairs. On her first day of work, Lorry finds a dead body at the foot of those same stairs. When she learns the dead woman is the sister of the previous victim, Lorry suspects the two deaths are related. Will she discover the killer in time or will she be the next victim?

Get the message across this is fun
I enjoyed this book. This is the first book by this author I have read or listened to but it won't be my last as I fell in love with the characters, especially the little boy and the Kaleidoscope teenager, both who were like able and very grown up. The main character also seems a pushover at the start and I wasn't sure I was going to like her but she certainly had me changing my mind the more we got to know her. The author has created a sweet character driven little mystery with a lot going on that had me hooked until the very end. The mystery does get a little bit lost with all the drama of getting a divorce and starting a new job but actually I think it worked well because of development of the characters and the situations they found themselves, I liked that the author is also challenging stereotyping with this book. The mystery did work in this case and instead of asking lots of questions of suspects is more driven by looking or finding clues. I will be looking to see if the author has any more books in this series.
Lorry 's finally had enough of her no good husband after he clears on there joint bank accounts to pay off his gambling dets, so she returns to her home town to get a job. Working at the Historical Society at least gives her a pay check and she can pay for her hotel room. The problem is on her first morning she finds a cat that she is allergic to and a dead body laying at the bottom of the stairs, the same stairs where an accident and another body was found a few weeks ago. Are the two deaths connected? When Lorry finds out the dead ladies were sisters, she thinks the police were wrong writing the first death as an accident. All her married life her husband has put her down and told her what she should do or like, can Lorry rebuild her life and self-esteem by proving both were murdered? Then her soon to be ex husband turns up wanting money, can she stay strong?
I have heard the narrator read a few other books and have always found her to be a pleasant and entertaining narrator that does a good job.

Cozy by name, cozy by nature
Really good listen, no big surprises in the plot but enough clues to keep it interesting. Actually the best part is the back story and how Lorrie becomes a stronger woman. Narrator is excellent! End is a bit tooo sweet but sets up for continuing adventures very nicely with no cliffhangers, just a lingering desire to see what happens next
