Summary

The first suspenseful thriller in the Midnight series from Wall Street Journal bestselling author Melinda Leigh.

When two hikers disappear from their hometown in Maine, everyone blames the blinding storms. But the truth is far more sinister. Unaware of the danger, tabloid photographer Jayne Sullivan follows an anonymous tip to find the most reclusive sculptor in the art world. Instead, she finds mysterious handyman Reed Kimball - and a small town full of fatal secrets.

Five years ago, Reed buried his homicide detective career along with his wife. But when a hiker is found dead, the local police chief asks Reed for help. Why was a Celtic coin found under the body? And where is the second hiker? Desperate to avoid the media, Reed doesn’t need a murder, a missing person, or a nosey photographer. Until Jayne is attacked, and he realizes that her courage is his undoing. Reed must risk everything to protect her and find a cunning killer.

Midnight Exposure. Melinda Leigh

Midnight Exposure by Melinda Leigh. The first book in the Midnight series. A super thrilling story with a beginning, middle and a good ending. Just as all Melinder Leigh’s books. I must get the second one now. Good narration too.

The Sullivan Family.

Unfortunately by accident I listened to Book 2 first and became so invested in the characters I had to find out what happened in Book 1. So followed a very long night.

I love suspense stories that can be read as standalones but have interconnected characters. In this case the Sullivan family which Scott did a great job bringing to life with his awesome narration.

I won't give away the plot but will say that the people involved are very real and loyal to a fault. To the point where they are willing to go to hell and back to protect those they love.

I recommend this page turner of a book which has something for everyone. A nail biting plot with lots of twists and turns that made me laugh and cry. An interesting deeply flawed family. Mystery and romance and a truly evil villain (or two). Well done Melinda, keep it up...

It was easy listening and an OK story

Nothing was particularly bad about this - in fact I did enjoy a lot of it, I just found that I lost interest at some parts and it seemed to drag on a little. The narrator was good. All in all it was OK. Not bad but not something I would run to listen to again.

Brilliantly clever

A great story that will keep you guessing.
I did have to go back a few times to check I hadn’t missed something towards the end as was so much happening. But loves the intrigue & mysterious goings on.
Great characters you can just fully imagine.
Good smooth and easy to listen to narration.

This is not my genre

This was a Kindle Unlimited subscription selection, therefore a choice outside of my usual genre. The reviews for this were all highly rated, yet I was quite disappointed with the story - maybe I’m just a cynical, suspicious person, but it was very obvious to me who the perpetrator was!

This story did have the correct level of atmospheric tension so for lovers of the genre, I believe this could be considered exciting and gripping. Just not for me!

One star is too much.

9 hours and 3 minutes I’ll never get back!
Absolute rubbish! Mills and Boon style nonsense with repeated cliches and boring, predictable plot.
