Summary
Alright, listen in!
The number one best-selling author of First Man In and The Fear Bubble is back with his most inspirational work yet.
After 13 years in the military, including four in the UK’s elite Special Forces as a sniper, Ant Middleton was the epitome of military excellence. Since leaving the military, he has climbed Everest, sailed 3,500 miles in a gruelling recreation of the mutiny on the Bounty and become a best-selling author and TV host. He’s been around the block a few times, and he’s learnt a thing or two along the way.
Mind over Muscle is a summation of all of these experiences. It’s the lessons gleaned from a colourful life, filled with extreme challenges. In this Audio Original, Ant Middleton shows you how to build up the most important source of strength you have: the power of your mind. Condensing his philosophy into four simple-to-grasp pillars, he then challenges you to go out there and live it.
Using the tools of the four pillars, you’re ready to take on the Mindset Challenge. A revolutionary new concept, only possible in audio, the Mindset Challenge is a 28-day training plan for the mind. Each day, Ant will challenge you to embrace fear, be positive, take ownership of situations, learn to lead and have integrity.
There are two lives you could be living. The one you’re living now. And the better version that’s just a thought away. Push yourself further than you’ve pushed before, and become the best version of yourself.
About the author
Best known for his role as Chief Instructor on SAS: Who Dares Wins (Channel 4), Ant has become a master of survival and endurance on and off-screen, spurred by his formidable career in the UK’s elite forces, including the Marines, 9 Parachute Squadron and SBS. Joining the armed forces at the age of 16, Ant eventually achieved the ‘Holy Trinity’ of the UK’s elite Forces.
With an insatiable appetite for adventure, in addition to writing two bestselling books - First Man In and The Fear Bubble - Ant has fronted several TV shows including Mutiny, which re-enacted Captain William Bligh’s voyage; survivalist programme Escape, centred on placing skilled engineers in precarious situations; Extreme Everest, where he conquered Mount Everest; and Straight Talking where he took One Direction’s Liam Payne on a thrill-seeking road trip through Namibia to get to know the ‘real Liam’.

interspersing
Potentially a great book for some.
For me.
I found the regular hero worship
(I honestly love he had the support of a great wife and kids and I feel his liove)
but for someone who doesn't have that support or contact with their children, because the mentioning became so regular, felt as if it was just a filler to make the book longer but also became emotionally draining, that the importance of the book was for me lost amongst the hero worship.
I found the book very emotionally upsetting.
And if I heard how great audible and lucky he was to have there help , well it was another regular filler and lost its power off thanks.
Overall the book is good but could be about half the length, more to the point.
On a positive you do feel he is wanting to help and improve peoples lives.

Practical tools to help you
I hesitated in buying this due to negative reviews saying it was repetitive. Having worked my way through this entire programme I can tell you it is actually an excellent resource that I have personally found incredibly helpful. Due to the fact this toolkit is only available in audio format I found the repetition of key themes, ideas and catchphrases helpful and essential as there is no written text to reinforce and back it up. I had to relisten to many sections and took notes. I wanted the main messages to sink in and so yes, he repeats alot of them such as it starts with you and positive and negative portal but I found that helpful as way of learning as I listened. I used this as an actual course for self improvement and the sections on getting control of your emotions and building mental resilience have truly helped me. It isn't like any of his other books. If you have read those then you will rehear stories from those because this book is aimed at a different reader who might not be coming to it with any background info and you can't assume they have read his other books. Overall, if you are looking for a practical programme to change yourself and you are really interested in working on sorting yourself out, this is ideal.

boring listen.
It seems this book which I was looking forward to has a 5 minute lesson dragged out. it didn't engage me which is a shame. I won't buy the next one now on pre-order, they did the same with Bear Gryls.

like that it was in small bits
it was a bit long winded, but like the idea and how it was broken down into bit.

Good
A good practical power of positive thinking philosophy some of which I have read before but I did get somethings to reflect on.
Enjoyed but it did get repetitive
