About this listen
Mind the Gap in Zip-It Socks is a humorous travel memoir. Two American women turned loose in England find themselves lost in the maze at Leed's Castle. They are awed inside Canterbury Cathedral, where an aged priest takes them into a private chapel. And Stonehenge? They are mesmerized with the magical mystery of its existence. The ladies quickly learn that the trains in England are a mystery of their own, but they persevere and walk the sands of Folkestone and eat fish and chips in the charming village of Rye. And they laugh all the way across the beautiful country of England sharing wine, food, and playing cribbage.
©2015 Patricia Steele (P)2017 Patricia SteeleThe use of two narrators worked very well, one readng Patricia's observations, the other reading everything else such as Caroline, the travel companion, and other voices such as waitresses or helpful travel guides. Together, they - Melanie A Mason and Patricia Zaitoon - make the book a lovely pleasure, their voice variation an attractive tapestry of sound. The whole is a light, amusing visit to England and recommended as little literary holiday for these stay at home times.
