took me a while

I am so glad I persisted with this, because I love Stephen Fry narration. This is a really good story, I don't understand why I couldn't get into it. I kept muddling up the characters, maybe that's just me, maybe it's something to do with the writing. But when I concentrated I realised it was a fine yarn and paid more attention.

Could not put it down

What did you like most about Montmorency on the Rocks?

Apart from Stephen Fry's excellent narration, I loved the pace and revealing of the story.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Montmorency on the Rocks?

The book is memorable on its own.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

Tarimond Island's scenes. But no doubt the one in the shoe shop :-)

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I almost did.

Any additional comments?

As I wrote, I just could not put this down. The story gripped me since beginning and although I mostly listen to my audiobooks in small portions, I listened to this one over the weekend. On Sunday I just ceased doing most of other thinking-involving stuff just to finish this book. I quite like mystery and detective stories and this "double mystery" just got to me. All the main characters were very much likable for me and I will definitely get some more books of this series. And of course Stephen Fry did an amazing job here.

An excellent listen

This is the second installment of the Montmorency story. The first instalment is not unfortunately available with Audible yet. Stephen Fry's beautiful reading of this epic tale is brilliant. However, I would advise that you either read or listen to the first book before purchasing this title, as the characters introduced in the first book are central to the story of the second. Perhaps Audible can obtain the rights to the first book as well...

Light and Fun

If you enjoy being read to by Stephen Fry you will not be disappointed. Light and Fun this entertaining read is one to enjoy when you are doing a tedious task like the ironing and very safe to listen to with the family around. I will definitely purchase any more Montmorency titles if they become available on Audible if they are read by Stephen Fry.

Listen and relax on the beach

Would you consider the audio edition of Montmorency on the Rocks to be better than the print version?

The audio version of this book is great. I don't think that the written version would be half so good. It was greatly enhanced by Stephen Fry's interpretation.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

It tied up some of the loose ends but was too abbreviated and left some story lines hanging in the air.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

The scene where Montmorency was chasing the crook through Kew Gardens Greenhouse

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes but it is too long for one sitting

Any additional comments?

The book was greatly enhanced by the reading of the story by Stephen Fry. His use of accents and different voices turned it into a performance. I have not read anything written by this author before but will look out for any other audible productions of her stories

Enjoyable

I bought this book without even reading the blurb because I love Stephen Fry's readings as i fall asleep. This book was engaging enough that I continued listening in my car and at home. The main plot was a bit predictable but the characters made up for it. And of course it was expertly performed by Stephen.

Did not disappoint

I was worried this Book might not live up to the standard of the first one. I needn’t worry. It was very very good.

Enjoy a light listen?

Any additional comments?

This was a really fun book to listen to, a light listen, I thought. It was also restful to hear Stephen Fry's excellent interpretation as he read. Try it!
