Summary

Margie Peterson is a typical stay-at-home mom until she trades dishes for detective work to become Austin’s least-likely PI. Soon she’s knee-deep in cheating husbands, transvestites, and trouble in a laugh-out-loud new mystery from award-winning author Karen MacInerney.

With a husband who works long hours trying to make partner and two rambunctious kids that are running her ragged, Margie Peterson is like any other worn-out suburban mom. When she decides to take a job as a PI for a seedy local detective agency, everything changes. It doesn’t take long for Margie to get in over her head: Her first day on the job she totals her minivan, mistakenly enters a drag contest, and winds up in the bathroom with a dead transvestite. But when Margie finds her home number in the victim’s phone, things really start to get interesting.

First time listener... Will listen to more!

I was looking for comedy and although some of the plot seems far fetched at first, it is all brought beautifully together and forms a very entertaining listen!

Had me laughing from start to finish.

If you could sum up Mother's Day Out in three words, what would they be?

Fun story line

What other book might you compare Mother's Day Out to, and why?

Probably 'One for the Money' by Janet Evanovich. Same sense of humour.

What does Cris Dukehart bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

The sound of the Texas drawl.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Laugh

Any additional comments?

Loveable characters, great plot and overall brilliantly crafted story.

Easy going book, really enjoyed it, quite a change of book for me. Fun and humorous and a rather good plot.

Enjoyable listen!

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this Daily Deal. I wasn’t sure to start off with about the narrator but she grew on me and it was a truly pleasurable listen. The overall story is good with a decent plot and characters. It also brings a tear to the eye with some emotional choices having to be made. I am off to get the next book!
