Summary

Meet Maggie Doyle, an ex-cop turned private investigator, who's on a mission to find a slice of paradise in her new home of Whisper Island, Ireland. Too bad wherever Maggie goes dead bodies and mystery seem to follow.

Five weeks ago, I’d given my cheating ex and crumbling career in the San Francisco PD the proverbial middle finger, and moved to the Wild West…of Ireland. In that time, I’d learned to bake scones without burning them (okay, I still scrape off scorch marks), rescued a kitten trapped in a drainpipe (well, I’d helped), and solved a murder (that one really was me). All things considered, my time on Whisper Island hadn’t been the restful vacation my aunt Noreen had promised, but I’d had a blast.

Enjoy the first three audiobooks in Movie Club Mysteries series in one convenient set!

This collection includes:

Dial P for Poison

After the most hated woman on Whisper Island is poisoned at her aunt’s café, can Maggie catch the murderer before they strike again? Or will her terrible baking skills burn down the café first?

The Postman Always Dies Twice

The instant Maggie and her friend discover the corpse of Whisper Island’s postman, her plans to chill for the next two months are put on ice.

How to Murder a Millionaire

Armed with her newly issued private investigator's license, Maggie is on the case…of a sheep that went missing 22 years ago. When she trips over a dead body on the first day of the investigation, she realizes there’s more to this cold case than a fight over lamb chops.

Mysteries made for movies

Wow! You get three great stories in this box set and what a great way to listen because as soon as you finish one mystery you will be straight onto the next. It is unusual to find a book set in Ireland but the small town feel really came across nicely. I loved the whole idea of the cinema being turned into a cafe and it makes for a wonderful setting for murders but it was the characters that I loved. Feisty Maggie is a great main character but she is backed up by a great supporting cast that just make it so much fun.
Book one Dial P for poison
The mystery was really good with multiple motives and suspects to keep you guessing. It just really caught my imagination.
When Maggie's career and relationship fails she leaves behind America to travel to Ireland and help out her aunt. With her aunt needing dental treatment on the main land she needs somebody to run her cafe. Maggie wishes burning the scones and making had tea was the worst of it but when the monthly movie night ends with a death it only gets worse. Maggie can't help but follow her training and push for the death to be investigated as a murder. But in doing so her beloved aunt becomes the number one suspect. Maggie knows her aunt is innocent but the dead woman worked for the local newspaper and used it to spread rumours and secrets about the villages leaving behind a lot of people who hated her and make for very good suspects. Both of her aunt's included. Maggie pushed so hard for it to be treated as a murder now she has to find the killer.
The postman always dies twice
What should be a complicated and twisted mystery with everything that is going on but the author has created an easy to follow and very entertaining mystery, that kept me hooked. Maggie is a great main character but to be honest there are so many great characters that it is hard to pick a favourite. I really got into the mystery especially because nothing was what it seemed and add in the humour and you have a story you can listen to again and again.
During a storm Maggie is surprised to find the post van abandon in the middle of the road. Her training as a former police officer has her looking over the edge of the cliff to discover the body before it is washed out to sea. A number of things don't add up for it to have been a suicide but she never thought her best friends brother or grandfather would become the only suspects. Especially as the postman was a ladies man and a number of people hated him. Can she find the real killer and prove them innocent? At the same time her high school nemesis turns to Maggie for help in proving that there is no Poltergeist haunting her hotel before she loses all her guests and before the St Patrick's day race. It's a race not only to the finish line but also to find a killer and a pretend ghost.
How to murder a millionaire
I especially love Lenny her best friend in this one as he is good for a laugh and brings his own form of help and chaos to the story. The main character is also great and isn't afraid to speak her mind or stand up for the under dog. Again solving one mystery isn't enough for this author but it is so well written that it never gets confusing or boring and is just a great little mystery that kept me guessing.
Maggie has put in the time and the work and is now a private investigator and thanks to her aunt she has her very first case. To find out what happened to a sheep twenty years ago. Before she can question the man who might hold the clues to what happened to the sheep, she finds him dead. At the same time her dead grandmother's best friend has returned to the small island and wants to reconnect with her old friends family. Maggie jumps at the chance when she learns the dead man was a relative. Can she find out who would want the farmer dead? The more she learns about her grandmother's friends family the more she wants to avoid them. But the detective in charge of the murder investigation finds the rich and famous family unwilling to talk and posing as Maggie's boyfriend he gets them invited to join the family on holiday to learn more about them. Just before he is about to arrest the killer another body is found and the detective is attacked. So it's up to Maggie and her sidekick Lenny to solve both murders and find out what happened to the sheep.I
I really like the narrator, especially as she uses an Irish accent to bring the small island feel to live and bring a charm to the characters.
