About this listen
This collection, Muddy Creek Tales, includes both previously published and all-new stories:
The Mighty Peculiar Incident at Muddy Creek - What starts out as something simple as a train failing to stop winds up as something mighty peculiar indeed.
Clockwork Chloe - Bert Tillory can get any woman to say yes, but who is he really looking for?
Posse - Sometimes when riding down a fugitive, it's hard to tell who's the hunter and who's being hunted.
Hanging the Magician - It's one thing to capture the most notorious horse thief in the West, but quite another to carry out his sentence.
All In - How high can the stakes truly get for a single hand of poker?
Spring Loaded - Love and revenge, clockwork-style.
All this, plus an original cowboy poem and a preview of the novel Pariah's Moon!

Wild West with a difference
This was a great set of six short stories all set in one place. Each story is very different from the last but with some of the same characters appearing in the stories it adds to the continuity and makes them feel connected. Each story focusses on a different character (male and female) and starts each story with a title giving you some sort of clue of what it is about.
THE MIGHTY PECULIAR INCIDENT AT MUDDY CREEK- This starts with an old fashion western feel to the story with a train carrying the payroll failing to stop and quickly takes a turn into science fiction when the sheriff catches up to the train.
CLOCKWORK CHLOE- This was my least favourite as there is a lot of guy's standing around a saloon talking about sex and the girls they beded. There is more a western feel to this story and no Syfi feel to it. Bert Tillory can get any girl he wants but is he really looking for a woman? He has more than just tall tales in mind.
POSSE- This story contains the most sy-fi element and you are introduced to some weird and wonderful creatures as the sheriff and his posse hunt down killers of a family. Not everything is as it seems and just when is an Indian attack not an Indian attack?
HANGING THE MAGICIAN- I think this was my favourite as I liked the twists the story took as the sheriff and governor try to capture and hang the Magician the best horse thief there is.
ALL IN- This has a sy-fi element that you don't even know is there until the very end as the deputy plays the game of his life in a high stakes card game.
SPRING LOADED- This was another good one, I liked how the story played out and the main character got her revenge despite the odds. What happens when you are a sharp shooter for a traveling show and somebody wants your job? Can things get settled the old fashion way with pistols drawn at a 100 yards?
The narrator was quite gruff but it wasn't long before I didn't really notice it. The only thing was there wasn't much difference between make and female voices and it was only because he said she that I knew a female was the focus of that particular book. Other than that I enjoyed it.
