About this listen

No. 7 Ocean Drive is a multimillion-dollar beachfront house in the Hamptons, but its beautiful exterior hides a horrific past. This house was the setting for a series of depraved killings that have never been solved.

Neglected, empty and rumoured to be cursed, it's known as the Murder House, and locals keep their distance.

Detective Jenna Murphy has moved to the area to escape her troubled past and rehabilitate a career on the rocks. But when a Hollywood power broker and his mistress are found dead in the abandoned Murder House, Jenna becomes involved in a case that at first seems open and shut, but reveals more secrets than she could possibly imagine.

As more bodies surface and Jenna is drawn deeper into the dark history of No. 7, she must risk her own life to expose the truth - before the Murder House claims another victim.

The twist and turns will have you hooked.

Amazing plot, had me absolutely hooked!!! I have read most of James Patterson books, however they have all been part of a series. This was my first stand alone. I loved it and would recommend it to others.

Slow at first but then had me gripped

Little slow and jumpy at start but once characters are set and founded it becomes quite a gripping book. Another success from my favourite author and his co-writers.

enjoyable

I did enjoy this, but found it predictable also the narrator was pretty good but every male character sounded identitical! I would listen to her again though.

Don't be put off by the initial male narrative

The initial male voice along with over the top dramatic music almost made me ditch this one. Glad I stayed with it though, the music is only for a couple of moments during the introduction and while I still really couldn't take to the male narrator he doesn't play a massive part and the female one is excellent. The story itself is good, although I guessed the twist it didn't ruin it for me. Overall I would recommend.

Great story and amazing narration

Loved this story, loved the plot twists, thought I had nailed the outcome, then changed my mind, then changed it back again, then changed my mind....repeat to fade. The narration was simply amazing.....the emotional investment in the narrative shone through....well done!

Brilliant

What made the experience of listening to Murder House the most enjoyable?

Brilliant book, James Patterson kept me guessing right to the end, I kept swapping around to who I thought did it and what the ending would be! I almost burnt the dinner because I wanted to listen to the end. I have to be honest I do fast forward the really gruesome bits but don't feel I miss out on the plot.

Any additional comments?

I used to read JP booked all time until Swimsuit which I found too gruesome it put me off reading any other of JP's books but now I have found the audio versions it is great you just ff any bits you don't want to listen to. Murder House exceeded my expectations.

Got me hooked from the beginning

I always like James Patterson books and this is no different. From the beginning I was intrigued and following each of the characters. Twists in the plot were great and I was guessing until the end. Very well narrated, I like the male and female voices.
