About this listen
Klarinda Snow is the innkeeper of a beautiful, historic bed and breakfast in Windy Pines, Idaho. Guests come to Mistletoe Manor to escape from their troubles while enjoying the scenic mountain town.
When all seven rooms of the inn get booked on a Tuesday night in December, Klarinda is excited about having so much business, but a little confused as well. After all, her inn normally isn't exactly a destination hotspot.
The guests have barely settled in before strange things begin happening. Is this the most accident prone group of travelers ever, or is someone out for revenge?

This cosy mystery is entertainingly narrated by Christopher Lane. The author tells a witty and amusing tale with her cast of mostly annoying characters and though the plot is a teeny bit obvious and features a group of moronic police officers who probably couldn’t find their own backsides with both hands, I really enjoyed the story. Also, in true Agatha Christie mode, Ms Tierney-Bedord provides a floor plan of Mistletoe Manor on her website. Which is nice.
Entertaining, if a little obvious

It came at a time we were moving house, and so accompanied me on trips to the dump, to and from both houses and also as I dropped the kids to school (I let the older ones listen in a bit too and have hopefully added to an ever mounting pile of love for books I try to instill in them-one they don't always pay attention to, but this one gave a hugely favourable reaction from both!!) and I was LOST when it ended.
This is a light, very atmospheric murder mystery that has everything you need, an old inn taken on by the brilliantly done Klarinda, that comes complete with employees almost from another era, a group of related somehow, but the reason for the connection is unbeknownst to most, travellers (an eclectic mix of characters, with one in particular that had me from the off), drawn to Mistletoe Manor by a mysterious invitation, and heavy drifts of snow that mean they are unable to leave and it is difficult for help to arrive (and then the arrival of it gives us some standout moments with bumbling law enforcement!).
The narrator took me a few minutes to settle into the voice of, but once I did get used to his American twang, I found it hard to get it or the story out of my head, with the name Klarinda making me excited each time I put it on. In fact I've listened to some extremely good books since and adored the narrators, getting excited for all the different voices out there, but this one is the one my mind keeps returning to-I can HEAR her name!!!
You might guess from the review how much I loved this book. What I wasn't ready for was just how much I wanted everyone to read it-I recommended it all over the place, beseeching people to get to it before Christmas, as the weather and darkness will I'm sure add even more of a satisfying dimension.
I'm pretty sure this was my book of the year, recommended to possibly the highest level I've recommended any book since I began this blog and the author, who was featured and loved before on this blog is now on my list of authors I will automatically read (have since signed up for her epic newsletter, downloaded some books, bought some more and am reading another of this series on Kindle!). Yes, that's it. Top book of 2019.

Klarinda is surprised to find her little inn fully booked at Christmas, normally her slowest time of the year. and the guests are all arriving on the same night. It is only after they have arrived that they realise that they know each other and evenen more surprising is that they all won the stay in a competition run by the inn, that Klarinda had no knowledge of. What is going on? Why would anyone want them all together stuck in one place at the same time? And why would someone send Klarinda an envelope full of money paying for all of them to stay there? It is only when strange accidents start to happen to the group that Klarinda wonders if this is more than just a reunion. With the snow storm keeping the police to busy to really investigate Klarinda will have to get to the bottom of it before her little inn gets a reputation as being the unluckiest inn in the world.
I liked the narrator he spoke clearly and used a variety of voices for the characters.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

The story itself: Klarinda is surprised to have her B&B booked full, and mostly singles. Which was rare. Very realistic that’s she’s struggling with the upkeep for the beautiful but old building. Running an inn is hard work! I was immediately pulled into the story. How it became mysterious right away… Wonderful! Then it was a lot about troubles at the inn, and an hour in it REALLY started. There was a build up towards it, making sure it never got boring! I would have loved more snooping, more amateur detective work, but it was a good story! And with a good epilogue and I always appreciate that. I loved it!
Wonderful story
