Beautifully read by Jane, so personal and insightful. loved learning about her rich and varied life. Jane is an inspirational woman, flawed and always searching for ways to better herself and the world. a true role model. I loved this listen.

One of the best booked I've listened to so far and exactly what I needed to listen to at the moment.

If the only spectacular thing Jane had done in her life be to write this book, I feel she would have already had a profound impact on the world.

I love the way the story of her life is told. You can almost hear the thoughts she must have been thinking and feel what she felt during periods of her life.

I recently listened to another autobiography and it was a case of don't meet your Heros being true. so I went into this hoping Fonda would be as fabulous as I always thought she was. She's amazing. beautiful, strong, a real girls girl. I'd love to buy her a wine and just listen to her. I wish she would have realised how enough she is. she is up there with Ripley in women you just don't mess with. damm girl I love you !

Ali Smith says we readers/listeners are most impacted by the undertow which we glean as we interact with an author.
I could feel this powerful undertow as I reacted to events I knew about, or didn't, in this iconic figure Jane who vividly showed up in our lives in a time when Stars not celebrities roamed the earth.
Her lifetime runs almost parallel to my own and although hers has not been an erudite life, she has been exposed to some of the century' s greatest thinkers, creatives and world events.
Her movies were often pivotal in my own understanding of what was possible. Perhaps she is partially responsible for the muddied gender roles we were offered at the time.
Gratefully, I was privileged with a more academic grounding so I was able to make some different choices..earlier.
Nonetheless, her journey is acutely familiar and endearingly expressed.
Younger men and women could learn a great deal from this book, even if it has real flaws.
Hence the Undertow I refer to.
Methinks Ms Fonda may not yet have learnt enough humility to really face up. Not by the end of the book-and she says as much. Full credit to her.
Maybe her age 60-80 years will help her get there. I have a feeling she might.

Really enjoyed this book, always a better listen when the author themselves read it, it almost feels like they are talking to you 121.

this was a great listen, but I took off one star, as it felt like the most recent act (last couple of decades) were rushed through, hearing the warmth Jane spoke of her family, was lovely, but I guess it is her families privacy she was protecting. the book went up to the new millennium plus a little, which I know took us to where it was written, but just felt like the last hour or so was rushed

don't get me wrong, this was a great listen and really felt I got to know more about the great Jane Fonda and what inspired and challenged her, a very worthwhile read/listen still

I do love this woman, I fell in love when doing her exercise videos in the 90s, so my opinion is swayed by that for which I make no apology. Real time tale about going around the houses to find your happy, only to find you had it inside you all along. A celebrity version of the Alchemist, thanks for sharing Ms F!

n open, honest and uplifting account of the life of a brave and string woman, despite her upbringing and childhood/ adolescent experiences. So glad I read this book. Jane feels as though she is my sister, mother, best fiend all in one. And has given renewed courage to celebrate being myself and not let early life experiences define me.

The Jane Fonda I expected to find, based on who I see in the media, is not the woman uncovered in this story. The contrast is both fascinating and truly delightful. This is a beautifully raw story of self discovery, and one we arguably all can learn from.
