Summary
When Sam - a bright and high-spirited professional, working for an investment bank - walks into work on Monday morning, she thinks it's just going to be an ordinary start to an ordinary week.
But one quick and tense exchange is all it takes to change that.
When her more than slightly passive-aggressive, hot-this-week-and-cold-next-week colleague randomly hurls a racial slur at her, in the middle of the workday, Sam's previously comfortable life immediately turns into one filled with stress and anxiety.
In the aftermath, Sam's choice becomes clearer, and clearer.
She can continue to ignore the nagging voice inside her, the one telling her that she'd better not just "let this go" lest she lose all respect for herself, or she can speak up to the powers that be, and demand what is right...possibly losing her livelihood, and the only career she's known for two decades, in the process.

Inspiring and insightful!
I found listening to this audiobook really insightful into the reality of racial discrimination in the workplace. I think it’s a widely spoken about topic, especially theoretically by organisations, but very few people are aware of the impact of the lived experience. I think Sam‘s story will inspire and validate those with similar experiences, as well as inform those interested to learn more about racial discrimination.

Excellent
An excellent story to draw inspiration from. The story ultimately promotes a triumphant mentality for those that find themselves in difficulty. The theme of the story is one all too familiar in society, however this story feels unique and specific due to its autobiographical nature. The listener just through listening is placed in the head of the protagonist all the way through, feeling her manoeuvre through a highly tumultuous sequence of events - all started by an inciting incident that at first appears innocuous but is truly a juggernaut.
The voice actor is very good and the sound quality is good too. I initially questioned why this was priced as it is. However, after listening to the full audiobook I understood the importance of getting this story out and the need for it to be available to the widest possible audience.

Insightful!
This is a powerfully told story of an all too common lived experience. A great 'read' for those trying to understand the experience of racism in the workplace ~ Dion Johnson: The Womanologist
