About this listen

Is your life real or is the world you live in a simulation? Are the people you call friends and neighbors living beings with inalienable rights, or are they NPCs - Non-Player Characters - whose soulless path through life is predetermined?

Samael Crane, a brilliant scientist, believes NPCs are all around us. And he can prove it.

When a body is discovered in the bay off Essex, Massachusetts, small town pastor and former Marine plagued by doubts, Ezekiel Ford finds himself called in to identify the deceased. His history is unknown. His full name is a mystery. No one knows where he came from. In fact, Ezekiel seems to be the only person in town who ever really noticed him, living on the fringe of reality, and sometimes in the homeless shelter supported by his church.

Ezekiel’s involvement in the case doesn’t go unnoticed by Samael, who has set out to prove - through deadly means - that NPCs exist, that reality is simulated, and that ‘God’ is a coder with a grudge. The two men’s missions become inextricably entwined, leading them down a path through the gray area between good and evil, science and religion, and reality and simulation, barreling toward a truth that will change the world and humankind’s place in it forever.

New York Times and number one Audible.com best-selling author Jeremy Robinson takes listeners on a journey that is not only action-packed, but full of scientific and philosophical intrigue. In his most mind-bending story since Infinite and Alter, Robinson blends genres, belief systems, and bold prose into an unputdownable tale exploring the nature of reality.

In the audiobook edition he is joined by number one Audible.com best-selling narrators, R.C. Bray and Jeffrey Kafer, creating a truly one-of-a-kind listening experience.

One of those stories you cant stop listening

Its not often i get a story which i cant stop listening to. More often than not those are drama rather than narration. This was a blowing away story. In part i wanted to hate samael then realised how sad he was. The idea of the matrix to the n'th degree had me believing the story then doubting the story then believing etc, etc. There aren't many stories where i don't get bored towards the end having worked what and when somewhere in the middle. Is it a simulation is it reality?????

You will have to work this out for yourself.

Highly recommended.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The story was not over complicated and yet manages to incorporate technical and philosophical topics. The readers were both brilliant and voiced the character’s well. I highly recommend this novel. At its most basic it’s a book about a serial killer at its highest it’s questioning morality and reality the question of god and creation. Wrapped in a modern theme of technology.

is reality a sim,

A interesting philosophical novel from Jeremy Robinson explores the nature of reality and how to make sense of the human experience. Enjoyed it not as much as the Infinite books though.

An excellent listen!

What an excellent listen! A brilliant take on the morality/realism/authenticity of our very existence! Sounds a bit deep but thats where the core of the story hits you. If fairness it can be as deep, or as light as you want to take it, it’s still a very good story! RC Bray is again excellent! Jeffrey Kafer does a better job than my last listen of him, but I personally still stay extremely unimpressed with his narration. BUT this does not detract from the story and I quite like the two different narrators for the two main characters idea, so still a 100% recommended listen!

loved it

I'm not at all religious and am a none believer. But this book really makes you think and examine reality. it is excellently written and read by both narrators.

Along for the ride

Another fantastic novel by JR…
I can’t get enough of them. It really doesn’t matter which side of the coin you sit (if either), it gets you thinking about this crazy world.
Worth a listen.

Food for thought

Very interesting but a bit heavy for me. Love this author and the narrator never fails to make a story come to life.

Interesting and exciting

I enjoyed this story, it's fun to question reality. Both narrators we're excellent and they worked well together. I'll be keeping an eye out for a sequel.

Challenging in the best possible way!

A departure in some ways for Robinson, starting as a small town murder mystery/thriller, builds into a cross-genre ride full of twists and some challenging questions. Some great grey areas and unknowns get visited and it's truly fascinating.

The biggest bonus with the audiobook is the dual narration by two of the very best in the business, both in top form with some rich characters.

Highly recommended.
