Summary
Detective Sanne Jensen (not blonde, not tall, definitely not Scandinavian) and Dr. Meg Fielding (scruffy, scatterbrained, prone to swearing at patients) are lifelong best friends, sharing the same deprived background and occasionally the same bed. When a violent kidnapping stuns the Peak District village of Rowlee, both women become involved in the case.
As Sanne and her colleagues in East Derbyshire Special Ops search for the culprit, and Meg fights to keep his victim alive, a shocking discovery turns the investigation on its head. With the clock ticking, Sanne and Meg find themselves pushed closer by a crime that threatens to tear everything apart.

As good as reading it yourself!
I've read the book twice myself and chose it as my first audio book for a long car journey. The narrator was great and was able to individualise each character with subtle accent changes, being a Northerner it was lovely to hear the accents were correct and not overdone. Well done Cari for writing a superb story and Victoria for doing it justice! Next in the series is ready for my long drive back home!

New author
Although the plot was good and characters interesting I thought the narrator had a really monotonous tone verging on very boring. If the actual story hadn’t kept me wanting to listen I would have given up. These book narrators can make or break an audio book. Some are really excellent. This narrator is not even good. I will try another book by this author and hopefully the narration will be more lively.

Really good book!
I've never written a review but felt I needed to with this book.
I loved it. The narrator really brings the characters to life. I am desperate to get the next one but have to wait for my new credit. I may have to buy the next one!
I highly recommend this book if you like crime. It's easy listening, it has good character development and a bonus is the two main characters are both lesbians. This is the first lesbian crime book I've found. I didn't realise it was set in England when I brought it either which is a big bonus!
Now my review is written I'm gonna go make a brew and have some choccie biccies (thanks Cari!)

So good I got the sequel!
I really loved this book. The crime story is gripping and the inter-personal relationships between the characters is wonderful. It’s witty and laugh out loud funny in places, whilst achieving great tension and pathos. It keeps you gripped both intellectually and emotionally.
Nicola Victoria Vincent does a superb job of the narration. Her comic timing is brilliant as is her range of British accents. There was a problem with the editing of the chapter headings which did interrupt the flow of the story.
If you like crime stories with a fully rounded cast of characters then you can’t go wrong with No Good Reason!

10 out of 15 stars
story was good and liked the lesbian relationship, very unusual in books.
the Male voices sounded the same and very strange but female voices and accents were good. a bit too much swearing for a doctor I thought and found myself cringing at times.
I felt that they were tired and sore too much too.

I cried so hard.
I'm not sure I want to hear another story like this. It was heartbreaking, but in both happy and sad ways. I think I'll need a month or so to recover from this story before I try another.
Some of the coincidences the story relied on stuck out a bit much - I know in real life coincidences do happen, but the one that wraps it all up strained my credulity a bit more than makes me comfortable.
In all, a good story, performed expertly.

Brilliant Crime story
Loved this story. A gripping crime story with just the right amount of sex, violence, humour and pace to make the story interesting and the listener to want to find out more of what is going on. Have read a few this author's books, but this is certainly the best so far. Look forward to listening to the sequel! The narration is very good to, can almost hear Cari Hunter's voice in this, especially when the characters swear...lol!
