About this listen

Ian Poulter is one of golf's most charismatic figures, with an appeal extending way beyond his sport. Here he tells his inspirational story, from his early rejection as an Spurs youth player, right through to his match-winning contributions to successive European Ryder Cup Triumphs.

Poulter went from an Assistant Professional staffing the club shop to a global superstar, turning pro when he still had a handicap of 4 but the drive and self-belief to make it to the top. His infectious optimism, will power and flair have ensured he remains one of the biggest names on the tour.

As well as insights into the crucial moments in his career, and the life of a professional golfer, he talks about his passions outside the game, including his own riotous brand of clothing. Just as Poulter's appearance on the scene came as a refreshing antidote to a sport that was staid and stuffy, so his own book is as forthright and passionate as Poults himself.

What a great rags to riches story. Amazing what can be achieved with the right drive and sheer hard work. I loved hearing Poult's experience of the Miracle of Medinah, without doubt the most amazing piece of sport I have ever witnessed.

Poorly read and too much about himself and not enough about a genuine life story, interaction with other golfers or stories about the tour or golf generally.

Brilliant to listen so many things he can say and talk about his life in golf has not finished can’t wait for the next book in years to come when he puts the clubs away.

Great person playing what he loves

Loved the book as it was a great insight into what makes Ian Poulter tick. Absolute golfing hero! I nearly had to turn the audio book off though as the voices and accents of other people in the book were so bad. I would have been better if the narrator just kept to his own voice (also questionable) rather than the worst impersonations ever. Phil Mickelson and Rory Mc do not sound like that.....why even try.

Top tip - read the book, don't listen to it.

Great book - Terrible voices

An interesting but unspectacular listen for a few reasons:

He really did come from nothing - that part of Stevenage at that time in particular was hard🙀

You have to admire the confidence and self belief which have got him so far - even if the flip side may be irritating in equal measure for some people...⛳️

He bloody loves the Ryder cup!🏆🏆

Think he will make a fantastic tv pundit one day...

Ryder tastic

I was a great listen as Ian didn't take the normal route to become a professional golfer, was from a family with Money but pure dedication and flight to succeed allowed him to achieve his golfing goals. I have a son who is a junior golfers and I know he does too so I might even get to meet him one day.

A great story as Ian didn't take the normal route

I am a golf fan and really liked the story. The accents that get randomly thrown in when Ian is talking to other people are not needed and abit daft but don’t take away from the enjoyment. Definitely one for any golf fan.

Enjoyable listen

Brilliant book. Will make you laugh out loud. Don't need to be a Golf Fan to enjoy this book.

Would you consider the audio edition of No Limits to be better than the print version?

Don't know as I have not read it!

What was one of the most memorable moments of No Limits?

The fact that Ian never gives up or his confidence wavers...for me he is an inspiration to all young up & coming golfers & shows what can be achieved if you really want it.

What does Paul Mendez bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

Not convinced he does to be honest...very average narrator!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes & no, as I wanted to go back a few times to check & listen to certain chapters again.

Any additional comments?

Very enjoyable to listen to & he is a very interesting guy who deserves everything that he has achieved for his family and himself, plus Europe in the Ryder Cup. If I was younger this would inspire me to greater golf. Some of it is sad, happy & exciting, inspirational for those that love the game...would make a great Christmas gift.He is not everyone's cup of tea, but for me he deserves all the money, all the publicity as he's a great personality & underneath that brash exterior is a very decent human being...I really do believe that he has a few major wins left in him & it's not that far away, I for one really hope so, as I like the bloke....thanks Ian for a great story!

Never, ever give up & make the most of it!
