Summary

Presented in a practical Q&A format, No-Nonsense Buddhism for Beginners is the most clear-cut introductory guide to understanding the essential concepts of Buddhism and how they relate to your daily life.

How is an awakening different from enlightenment? Can agnostics and atheists be Buddhist? Am I supposed to stop thinking when I meditate? In No-Nonsense Buddhism for Beginners, renowned Buddhism teacher and host of the popular Secular Buddhism podcast, Noah Rasheta, delivers an easily accessible introduction to the teachings of Buddhism that answers these common questions and many more.

With No-Nonsense Buddhism for Beginners you’ll gain a fundamental understanding of Buddhism and how to apply the philosophies in your everyday life, through:

  • A simple four-part structure addressing the different aspects of Buddhism - the Buddha, key Buddhist concepts, the Buddha’s teachings, and current Buddhist practices
  • Straightforward Q&A’s that simplify the vital concepts of Buddhism into easy-to-understand ideas
  • “Everyday Buddhism” sidebars that make Buddhism less abstract by offering down-to-earth examples from everyday life

Presented in a simple, conversational style, the information and guidance in No-Nonsense Buddhism for Beginners provides the groundwork that is necessary for building or continuing your own Buddhist practice.

Very engaging and clear

I am not a reader. That's why I chose this audible book. Having been fascinated all my life by Buddhism I was interested to learn and dive in more about Buddhist teachings. But I was afraid of big books with a lot of complicated content so this audible book "no nonsense Buddhism" was a good choice for me because it was short clear and still very engaging. I really loved it.

Really helpful

I'm new to Buddhism and have learnt some concepts from attending a Buddhist Centre, but this book really helped answer some questions for me. The fact it's quite short means it's not overwhelming, and the q&a format makes it easy to follow. Highly recommend.

Best Introduction to Buddhism

This is a great book, which I almost didn’t buy because of its Q&A format. What a loss that would have been! It’s by far the best basic introduction to Buddhism that I have ever seen or heard. Crystal clear, realistic, pragmatic and eminently readable, it presents often complex concepts and questions in a highly accessible manner A great primer and guidebook. A real jewel!

Perfect place to start.

I had already done plenty of my own research before listening to this but still found it a very good listen. A perfect start point for anyone. 🧘
