About this listen

Legendary UFO expert Erich von Daniken stirs up another controversy with an imaginative supposition: What if the myths of ancient Greece were attempts to describe events that really happened? What if ancient peoples were visited, not by imaginary gods and goddesses, but by extraterrestrial beings who arrived on earth thousands of years ago? The author's research into both ancient mythology and current archaeological discoveries leads him to some explosive hypotheses. He suggests that the best explanation of such creatures as centaurs and Cyclops, as well as stories about the lost continent of Atlantis and wars among the deities, may be efforts by artists of the times to record never-before-seen phenomena. Dozens of ancient sculptures and temple decorations, von Daniken points out, look surprisingly similar to equipment used by today's astronauts. Could these be long-lost secrets, being rediscovered by scientists today?

like all of erich books another thought provoking work, interpreting artefacts histories, myths and legends with a plausible alternative to the accepted norm. are there green men or other worldly beings, well not so much green men but the other does make you wonder. only downside to the audio version you miss photos that really need to be seen so you can draw your own conclusions

thought provoking

Very though provoking. well read ( at x1.5 speed ). Lots of Greek mythology, and how unexplaned and murky the past really is.

One of von Daniken"s best books

Erich has done it again. Well researched and information provided is of a good spectrum of multiple books and manuscripts. I would like to have understood the connection between this book and Greek mythology or history as it should be known, there are a lot of greek names and family trees which I would have to see a family tree for.

I love Erich's interpretations of these texts and adds his twist on things to better explain to the lay person.

Classic Von Daniken

Greek tales retold in Von Daniken’s way more coherent then many of his other books, I think the narrow focus on Greece helped

Greek spacers

The cadence of the reader is really annoying. It makes following the story difficult

The reader is awful.
