What possibleconnection was this supposed to have to the Pern books?

Not sure why this has been lumped in with the Pern books; it doesnt blend in with any of the precepts or ethos od Ann Mc C's stable!
Just because it has dragons in it doesn't make it part of the collection.
but seriously, was this written by the publishers teenage son perhaps, or were they just trying out a new narrator?
He gabbles and lacks any intonation at all, by the way!
