Summary
When Lady Margaret Blake and her sister lose their parents in a boating accident, they are left to the guardianship of their uncle. Disregarding their feelings for the price their beauty will fetch on the Marriage Mart, he arranges a match for both. Lady Margaret, however, has her own views on the matter and takes her fate into her own hands.
Returning home after war to assume his responsibilities, Luke, Duke of Waverley, expects a nice, quiet life on his country estate. Within hours of stepping foot in England, though, he stumbles upon a young woman being attacked, and no sooner does he rescue her than she runs away. His sense of curiosity is piqued and his sense of honor compels him to help her, leading him on a merry chase . . . Meg escapes the marriage, only to find herself at the mercy of others. Fortunately, in the soldier she cannot avoid, she also finds herself in very capable hands. Only her uncle has a deeper reason for his actions and will stop at nothing to see his plans fulfilled.

good story
The story was engaging but the narrator's downward inflection at the the end of every sentence was very annoying.

Great Narration, Lacklustre Story
This was ably narrated by Alex Wyndham. This is part 1 of a Series, which was part of the Audible Plus Catalogue. The others are not (yet) included in the Plus Catalogue and, as such, I’m unlikely to venture into the rest of the series.
There was no depth to “Brothers in Arms” theme, which I guess will develop over the course of the series.
The tale was a long while in the telling and was overly complicated (to my mind). The explanation to it all, was over in about 4 paragraphs over 2 chapters at the end and, the looked for HAF, was dealt with in 1 sentence.
The start of the story was interesting and intriguing, but the (unintentional - at least I hope so), farcical element to the plot and the meandering misunderstandings, were quite trying.
I suspect the next in the series is the continuation of the cliffhanger, but I’m not interested enough to stick with it.

Good story
Good story, I haven't listened to this author before, I liked it, it was well read and I look forward to what happens next, no bedroom play in this story as it stand well without it.

A good listen for a wide audience.
Easy to follow audiobook, with a good mix of romance & adventure. The narrator has a pleasant voice which aids listening.

Alex Wyndham is a fabulous reader
I found the characters over all very irritating. the heroine is an flappy idiot. the duke is well enough but the whole obsession at first sight thing is weird, not romantic in my opinion.
story line is far fetched. my main beef is with the heroine though, just can't get on with her.
but thankfully it was a free listen 😂

Ridiculous
Not even the delicious voice of Alec Wyndham could motivate me to read more than four chapters. It's an extremely unlikely plot.
