About this listen
Brought to you by Penguin.
What would happen if you were cycling to the office and just kept on pedalling?
Needing a change, Mike Carter did just that. Following the Thames to the sea he embarked on an epic 5,000-mile ride around the entire British coastline—the equivalent of London to Calcutta.
He encountered drunken priests, drag queens and gnome sanctuaries. He met fellow travellers and people building for a different type of future. He also found a spirit of unbelievable kindness and generosity that convinced him that Britain is anything but broken. This is the inspiring and very funny tale of the five months Mike spent cycling the byways of the nation.

After being unsure at the start I then really enjoyed the book
Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.
It made me laugh out loud, touched my heart, took me to wild and interesting places meeting, fascinating people all with such a wonderful choice of words that brought it so alive. Yet more than that it managed to say such profound things about the state of Britain, and even humanity and I feel deeply enriched having listen to it.
Choose it, even if you are usually dislike travelogues you will not regret it . It will do us all good to remember that “Britain isn’t broken’ and, despite the endless misery in the media , most people are generally kind and bighearted.
i’m off to google Mike and see if he has written about any other adventures. Hope so.
just perfect
