Summary

What's the first rule of reinventing yourself as a cool girl at a new school? Steer clear of your old crush.

A new school means a fresh start. So long Ronnie Smith, invisible tomboy, and hello Veronica, popular new hottie. This is my chance to finally be seen...and kissed. Yeah, that's right. I've never been kissed. But I mean to change all that now that I'm starting over with a new look and attitude.

The only problem? I'm not the only one from my old school who's transferred to Briarwood High. Drew Remi is here, too, and he's still the same wildly popular baseball star. He's also the only person who can ruin my new life. But he can only rat me out if he recognizes me....

So, why am I so upset when he doesn't have a clue who I really am?

Out of His League

This is a YA/ High School Romance. I loved Ronnie & Drew. They were such great characters and they fit so well together. The girl who desperately wants to be seen, the popular guy who has no real friends, they grew up together and then grew apart in middle/high school. This isn't like the normal popular boy books, no bets are placed to see if the shy quiet girl will fall for the jock. Ronnie was the one who initiated the makeover not wanting to be the tomboy or one of the guys anymore. Typical high school drama must always ensue!

I loved the audio for this. I haven't listened to any narrations by Lauren Fortgang or Josh Hurley before but will be looking for their other narrations.

Cute story

This was a cute, fun YA romance. Short and sweet.
Ronnie thinks that she needs to recreate herself as Veronica in order to stop being seen as just a tomboy.
I loved the dual narration. The two narrators enhanced the reading/listening enjoyment.

Fun!

Good story. Well written and preformed. I did feel like a few scenes were forced and didn't like how whiney the Mc could be at times. Overall, I did like the meaning of the story, about how everyone is always changing. Very true.

Briarwood High Book One

Briarwood High Book One.

Veronica 'Ronnie' Smith is determined to start out at her new school with a completely new look and attitude. She will no longer be invisible to her classmates. To this end, her friend Margo has given her a blowout, new clothes and makeup. However, when she arrives for the first day of school everything is put in jeopardy as she runs into an old classmate, Drew Remi. Luckily - or not - he doesn't recognize her at all. Veronica doesn't even know how to react to the situation, so she acts like she doesn't know him either. After compounding untruths are revealed, Veronica is stuck in the role she cast herself in. Drew can't help falling for the new girl, but he also knows she cannot be his.

If you're looking for a high school romance with two people who don't believe in games, this is the book for you.

A really sweet story with superb narration

This is such a sweet story. I love the characters and it is so nice to hear the story from both the male and female side of things. I Iove knowing what is being thought before the characters do! I'd like to spend more time with them.

Lauren Fortgang and Josh Hurley do a superb job of bringing these characters to life. So much so that I forgot I was listening to them!

Heartwarming

Maggie Dallen writes to support and lift up every teenager showing them that we're all the same and everyone has troubles. I was glad Veronica finally found her true self. Wish we all could that early in life. The narrators did a great job! Overall, I loved it and would listen to it again!

Sweet!

This coming of age/young adult story is told in dual point of view by Ronnie, who is trying to reinvent herself as Veronica as she becomes the new girl in a new high school, and Drew, who was a childhood friend of Ronnie's before moving away in middle school. They end up at the same high school where they struggle with friendships, teenage drama, romance and life in general. Both Veronica and Drew are likable and relatable.

I loved this story and feel like it accurately portrays the thoughts and feelings of many teenagers as they go through high school. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves YA romance. Lauren and Josh did a great job of bringing this story to life.
