Summary
Brought to you by Penguin.
This is the ultimate manual for living better and longer.
For all its successes, mainstream medicine has failed to make much progress against the diseases of ageing that kill most people: heart disease, cancer, Alzheimer's disease, and type 2 diabetes. Too often, it intervenes with treatments too late, prolonging lifespan at the expense of quality of life. Dr Peter Attia, the world's top longevity expert who is featured on Chris Hemsworth's National Geographic documentary Limitless, believes we must replace this outdated framework with a personalised, proactive strategy for longevity.
This isn't 'biohacking,' it's science: a well-founded strategic approach to extending lifespan while improving our physical, cognitive and emotional health, making each decade better than the one before. With Outlive's practical advice and roadmap, you can plot a different path for your life, one that lets you outlive your genes to make each decade better than the one before.

A Forward-Thinking "Metamedical" Textbook
I'm a doctor in Europe. I share most of the same philosophies of this book, and aspire to provide this sort of care to my patients. In public practice, the service is not organised around "Medicine 3.0". I hope this changes.

Outstanding
I cannot stop listening to this; it’s a long book but have nearly finished it after just a couple of days. I am a fan of Peter’s podcast and work - of course - and this pulls together the whole spectrum of topics pertaining to health into an excellent narrative. This book is an incredibly rich source of information that will be of benefit to anyone interested in health and increasing the quality of their life. The concepts discussed are highly applicable and not prescriptive, with an emphasis upon accessible lifestyle changes, there’s no sales pitch for expensive supplements or regimented diet/exercise plan in here.

A must read/listen
I came across this from the Sam Harris podcast interview with Dr. Attia. I finished the book in a week and find myself still thinking about it. It has informed my strength training and changed my mind about the need to do cardio as well as left me feeling far more aware of what I should be looking to maximise as a 35yr old to ensure I remain as mobile as possible growing older. I have bought this book three times and given it to my family members and friends. I too have bad genetics and the first few chapters on the ‘four horsemen’ were enlightening. That said, I’m not sure the last chapter fits with this book as it feels a tad random but nonetheless a great listen.

Superb book on living one's best life
Excellent tips on health and happiness. A lot of interesting insights, particularly the sections on exercise and emotional health. So much detail and information. The author has generously shared a lot of specialist advice, which I hope to put into action

Life changing book!
This was a fascinating read. The level of scientific detail was perfect and extremely interesting if you want to go beyond surface level understanding of these topics.
Moreover, it is a truly honest reflection from the author, which is very impressive and inspiring. I would recommend this book to everyone. I couldn’t stop listening.

Great book, def worth a listen
Liked pretty much all of it except the exercise bit but made some huge generalisations and conclusions which make me then doubt the validity of the rest of the book. Trying to teach DNS was a step too far but great to hear it mentioned.

Perhaps one of the most important books I have bought.
Both for my physical health and my mental health, this book has helped me realize whats important in my approach - as well as thinking ahead. The honesty of Dr Attia is genuine and real, and I even got emotional at the end of it. I recommend this wholeheartedly.

Convincingly explains what you know deep down
I think most of us know that we don't live the healthiest lifestyle. What I didn't know though was just how much our lifestyles contribute to living a shorter and more miserable life. If you want to live a happy final few decades of your life, then give this a listen. I found it really eye opening and honestly kind of scary
