About this listen

It was planned as an act of charity: a new piano for the parish hall, an amusing play to finance the gift. The question now under bitter discussion is, who shall play the overture?

Though Eleanor Prentice wins, on the night of the performance, she cannot play. Miss Campanula steps triumphantly into the breach - a chord was is, a shot rings out, and Miss Campanula is dead, shot between the eyes. A case of sinister infatuation for the brilliant Chief Detective-Inspector Alleyn.

Excellent

Anton Lesser’s voice is superb. Brilliantly read story, drew me in completely. You could picture this classic mystery and the characters that make up this tale.

Gentle whodunnit, expertly read

I have previously returned Ngaio Marsh books because if the poor pronunciation of Alleyn's name. Anton Lesser reads this book superbly. Very enjoyable.

Ridiculously abridged

Why has SO much been cut out? It’s almost nonsensical. Excellent narration wasted. Don’t waste a credit on this.
