Summary

Paper Money is a gripping novel of high-finance and underworld villainy from the masterful Ken Follett. Will reporters uncover the web of criminality at the heart of two seemingly unconnected crimes?

Several Daring Crimes
London. A politician wakes with a beautiful girl; a criminal briefs his team; a tycoon breakfasts with a Bank official. Then three stories break: an attempted suicide, a hijack and a take-over bid.

One Shocking Conspiracy
They seem unrelated – until Evening Post reporters ask questions. Why is a Jamaican bank in trouble? Who drove the Rolls-Royce seen near the raid? (what raid? This is fairly confusing) Who was the man with gunshot wounds? Over the course of a single day, fortunes will be destroyed, reputations shattered and principles shredded.

A Dangerous Truth
It is only when a blackmailed politician decides to take matters into his own hands and to set a pair of fearless reporters on the trail that a criminal web at the heart of the conspiracy is uncovered. Will the truth be too dangerous to print on this unforgettable day in the capital?

Too short and no ending

This was a good story with well-developed characters and brilliant accents by the reader. However, it was too short. Also, it ended without wrapping up any of the story lines, which was extremely irritating.

Great reader

Left hanging a bit, would have liked to go to the next step with more personal resolution

Accidentally listened to this twice!

Thankfully less sex than most of his other novels and a fairly simple storey. I’m not sure it’s on of his better, much as I love Ken Follett’s novels.

Great Plot - Great Reader - Great Story

After reading previous comments I was almost prepared for an abrupt end if not an unfinished story. It's not. It's a great story that needs attention however. It's full of details a distracted listener might loose. A carefully planned crime, two really, and where casually plays nevertheless such a decisive role. About Jonathan Keeble? Probalbly the best reader. He would be able to create suspense even if he read a phonebook. I chose this audiobook not so much for Ken Follet whom I do appreciate (sometimes a bit too long in his descriptions for my taste but not this time in this brilliant case) but for the fact that it was read by Jonathan Keeble...

Great bite size story

Gripping and clever story, just like all Ken Follett books. I didn’t mind wrapping it up abruptly as the story complete as it is. I personally not a fan of the reader. He is great and skilled just his way of reading is not my vibe

Disappointed

I could not get to grips with this story. Not what I expected at all.

hooked from page one

This was my first Ken Follett book - although I know he's been a well-reputed writer for many years. It has a strong storyline and the characters are well-described, and vividly brought to life. The narrator is also first-class and the whole package was a delight. I'll certainly get other books by Ken Follett, if this is his normal standard! I feel as if I've just discovered a new 'fave' author...

Great narration, poor story

Not even the brilliance of voice actor Jonathan Keeble can save this awful excuse for a story. Is it a crime caper? Is is an unintentional comedy? Is it a morality tale? Is it a portrayal of the futility of ambition? Does the story have a coherent plot with a satisfying ending?
The answer to all the above is a chiming no.
A wasted credit.
