About this listen

In his fascinating and hilarious BBC Radio 4 stand-up show, comedian and quizzer Paul Sinha shines a light on the important historical moments that you never got taught at school and explains why so much of what you did learn is wrong. There will also, as ever, be puns.

He explains how Portugal's invasion of Morocco in 1415 led directly to the 2014 World Cup; how the 1909 launch of an Austro-Hungarian submarine prevented Dr Zhivago from winning an Oscar; and tells the story of the black woman who refused to give up a seat on an Alabama bus and ended up changing the law - no, it wasn't Rosa Parks.

Paul Sinha is an acclaimed stand-up who was nominated for the Edinburgh Comedy award for his show Saint or Sinha?. He frequently appears on The News Quiz, The Now Show, and Fighting Talk, and he is a resident 'chaser' on the ITV quiz show The Chase. He wrote and starred in The Sinha Test (2011) and The Sinha Games (2012) on Radio 4 and in 2013 had his own four-part series, Paul Sinha's Citizenship Test.

Paul Sinha's History Revision was the winner of the 2016 Rose d'Or Award for 'Best Radio Comedy'.

I have listened to some of Paul Sinha's recent radio show and this is a treat for those who know his work. And I am frankly jelous of those who get to discover it - you are in for a treat.

Brilliant radio show , facts, fun and history

I've always been a big fan of Paul Sinha even before his time on The Chase. In these three series he casts a light on some of histories biggest lies and unknown treasures. He does it all with wit and accuracy and I love how he engages the studio audience. Would recommend to those who love history and those who don't.

Enlightening and uplifting

Paul Sinha is always full of facts and really knows his stuff. He has a great delivery style and definitely fulfills the BBC mantra of Inform, Educate and Entertain.

Always informative.

There are few things that take 5 and half hours that leave you wanting more.
This audio performance was one of them. I was gutted when it finished.

If I had a disappointment it was that this is clearly a radio show, and is recorded in front of a live audience. That doesn't bother me - it added to the charm, but it's very obviously been aired on BBC Radio for free and I missed it, only to the discover it by spending money. So i guess the disappointment lies with me, not Paul Sinha and his funny, informative show.

Funny, interesting, and leaves you wanting more.

Superb

An entertaining, informative and amusing look at history delivered in Sinha’s inimitable style and with the occasional fact I was unaware of. I cannot recommend Paul Sinha’s History Revision highly enough. This is laugh out loud education of the first order.

Tour de Force

The way that Paul finds origins, follows then along a convoluted path to a place, person or event that you just never saw coming!

Well presented, articulate and light hearted.

The added touch of being live makes it feel more real.

Bravo

I love this! Finding the truth when you thought you already knew it.

The description says ‘fascinating and hilarious’ and Paul Sinha’s is often reminding listeners that he is a comedian. To most of us he’s that guy from ITV’s ‘The Chase’. Okay I admit it is fascinating, but I wouldn’t call him a natural comedian, just a brainy guy. These three series are good, but not great. Yes I would listen to more series, but saying it’s ‘hilarious’ is just an empty promise and unduly raises expectations of the listener.

Okay reading this back sounds overly harsh, I don’t mean to be as I did enjoy it. :)

Good, but not great 4*
