About this listen

Persuasion, Jane Austen's last novel, is a tale of love and marriage told with irony and insight. Anne Elliot and Captain Wentworth have met and seperated years before. Their reunion, after the passage or irrecoverable years of their youth, forces a recognition of the false values that drove them apart.First published 1818. Favourite Austen novel

I think this is one of her best novels. The narration is really good and so easy to listen to.

Stunningly beautiful

Impeccably read and in my option, the finest of all Jane Austen’s novels. Romantic perfection!

Delightful.

I really enjoyed it. Narrated perfectly, it was easy to sink into.
It’s the most recent to have been given the movie makeover treatment. The book is much more detailed than the movie. Really enjoying my journey through Austen’s romcom world.

thoroughly enjoyable!

excellent performance! highly recommended. it's interesting after seeing so many films of Austin's works, what is left out, condensed or even added to in places. wish I'd found audible books years ago!

A gentle exposure of the workings of the human mind and heart

This was beautifully read. It’s one if my favourites if JA. Love lost and found. Gentle fun poked at the wily manipulations in families, and aspirations of vanity.

Brilliant rendition of a classic novel

Nothing to dislike! Greta’s reading was perfect and Persuasion is witty and gently funny with many razor-sharp observations of ‘polite’ society

Beautifully read, my new favourite Austen.

Sublime. So well read, I loved it. This Austen deserves to be as well known as P&P and S&S.

Lovely reading by Greta Scacchi

I haven't read any Jane Austen for many years, and really enjoyed becoming reacquainted with her writing again. Gretta Scacchi's narration was very nice. She has a lovely soothing voice. This has definitely encouraged me to try other Austen works on Audible.
