Fascinating

This book provides a detailed account of each crash, including the events leading up to it, the causes of the crash, and the lessons that were learned. The author does a good job of explaining the complex technical factors that can contribute to plane crashes. He also discusses the human factors, such as pilot error and maintenance problems. I loved that the author is not afraid to be critical of the aviation industry. He points out the mistakes that have been made and the lessons that have not been learned.

Aviation History WOW

Over my lifetime, I have heard of some of these plane crashes, yet you never truly get the full story from the news, an eye-opener. Oliver has done his research to compile such a book. Having a mechanical background, I was intrigued by the chapter on design flaws, yet my heart goes out to the crews and families of these travesties.

So interesting

I love to listen to audiobooks while I am working so that it makes the time go by as well as learn new things. What I liked about this book is the way the author reviewed each crash and taught us what lessons were learned from it. There were several crashes that I had never heard of and I did not know all of the various ways that these crashes were investigated to be able to put the pieces back together to find out what happened and what caused it. Each one of the crashes had its own story to share and they could have been from bad weather, human error, or mechanical failures. I fly frequently enough but never realized how much went into ensuring our flight would be safe. So I can say for certain I will be way more patient when there is a delay as everything they do is to try to ensure we reach our destination.

I think the book is laid out great, the chapters have a great flow and the narrator brought a sense of engagement. For anyone who loves learning random facts or just loves aviation, this is a great book.
