About this listen
Stranded on the distant planet Tschai, young Adam Reith is the sole survivor of a space mission who discovers the world is inhabited - not only by warring alien cultures but by human slaves as well, taken early in Earth's history. Reith must find a way off the planet to warn Earth of Tschai's deadly existence.
Against a backdrop of baroque cities and haunted wastelands, sumptuous palaces and riotous inns, Reith will encounter deadly wastrels and murderous aliens, dastardly villains and conniving scoundrels - and always the random beauty in need of rescue.

Really enjoyed the lead character. Only wished Jack Vance had written more books around him.

Sci-Fi aficionados read on!
I absolutely loved these books. Classic Vance ...he truly evokes vivid colourful pictures in his story telling. I would love to see these made into movies although I question if there are any directors capable?
The Narrator is superb. I recommend this to any lovers of Sci-Fi and even those taking their first steps into the genre.

Great Narration and Characters
The voice acting conveyed the wide variety of human and alien characters extremely well.
Classic Vance with a competent hero alone on a very strange world. Darkly humourous, but with tense action scenes and devious plots. The ending was a little bit of an anticlimax, but its slightly open-ended nature worked for me.

Good solid sci-fi
This was written in the 60s so is showing its age a bit (eg the lack leading female characters) but its still an entertaining story. The narration could be better, particularly the voices, but its by no means poor.

Exceptional Jack Vance
I had only read a Jack Vance trilogy a couple of decades ago, but recalled enjoying them and these didn’t disappoint. I don’t usually read fiction, but I became engrossed in these novels and was sad to reach the last chapter. A very involved World, full of intrigue and the right amount of tension. Highly recommended.

Superb Science Fiction
Adam Reith, sole survivor of an Earthship shot down over remote planet Tschai, finds a most mysterious, exotic world, inhabited by humans and 4 alien races that subjugate them.
Reith is resourceful, decisive yet compassionate.
Solid old school sci-fi. A to Z storytelling. Told through 4 books.
One of many stand out scenes are when Reith & his 2 companions enter the dreaded Carabas game preserve , swarming with Dirdir hunting for men.
Elijah Alexander's narration is excellent.
These 4 books could make exceptional films.
Such an intriguing, exciting tale, so colourfully written, I recommend a visit to Tschai.
