Unwanted and extreme amount of cursing

Book 1 was quite good but it seems like they really messed up book 2. Firstly there is just too much F-bombs for no reason. if it's every now and then I would get it and it adds a level of weight to it but they use it in every single sentence when MC was with the demon of insanity. I get they're trying to make the MC seem super mad but using F-bombs in every sentence doesn't make it any better. It was really hard to get through that whole part, even stopped it for a while and came back to it. That was my main issue with the book. There are also other parts such as MC personality and character but others have already talked about it.

Good listen, is translated so can miss things

Translation seems a bit jittery but I feel like everything works out. The first two are free and I am happy to continue listening to the series. Worth it in my eyes.

narrator choice for one character is a huge turn off

I am returning to this having abandoned the series and nope have the same issues the voice of the insanity demon is just far to annoying and hard to listen to. I think the story is ok but it’s all a little convenient and compared to stories like Graymane or daily grind is just not up to par. sorry

Foul language

This book is full of swear words and even includes inappropriate content such as suggestions of rape. Suggest Audible to filter content and set age limits.

How not to portray a main character!

Just finished this book on Audible and to be honest I don't think I'll be going on to listen to the third one.

This is the first time I have come across a book series where the main character's entire persona and motivations take such a nosedive.

The main character of this book is totally and utterly motivated by a financial obsession in every aspect of his life. It's a theme that seems to be prevalent across nearly every character in the book as well. The author never misses an opportunity to make reference to the financial standing of every character introduced. This is particularly obvious in the main characters family who are all as materialistic as he is. A great example of this comes when the author writes about a surprise birthday meal that he and his father have arranged for his sister. After walking through the door is she happy, surprised and grateful for their efforts? No, she immediately complains about the cost and amount of money that has been spent on the food. This monetary obsession is then further reinforced in this section when the main character goes on to tell the listener / reader what he admires the most about his sister. Is it her kindness, gentle nature or beautiful smile? Again the answer is no - its her financial astuteness and ability to calculate the cost of a food shop with a mere glance! It soon becomes apparent to anyone that this is the sort of family that were one of them to die, they would be more upset about the cost of the funeral than the death of the family member themselves lol! Sadly this financial obsession runs thickly through every aspect of the entire book.

The whole dynamic of the family just doesn't add up as the author constantly drones on about how poor the family are and how they suffer. Skimping on food and other basic areas yet sending the sister to a private school - hardly the sort of thing a genuinely poor family would be able to achieve.

The whole story revolves around the main characters obsession with cash and his whole likeability goes down the pan as a result of this. He turns on his friends and associates at the drop of a hat if there is the slightest suspicion they might affect his financial plans and aside from this motivation there is very little else of substance to this horrible guy. His behaviour is often erratic, unpredictable and at times I would say highly irrational as well and there is very little to like about him when all is said and done.

The other annoying thing about the audible version is the unusal frequency that laughing is written into the narrative and the narrator sounds really annoying when he does all the ha ha ha laughs! If you read this book when you get to the part about the insanity demon you'll know exactly what I'm talking about - at this point in the story I nearly quit listening because that is how annoying it really got.

Overall I highly doubt I will be continuing this series. The first book was ok but this second one has severely missed the mark and turned the main character into one of the most unlikeable people a story could have and you'll rapidly come to realise that you care absolutely nothing for him or anyone else.

I'd definitely say this is one series to avoid!

Far to much

Did the first book and it was OK...got 6 hours into the second book and I just want punch the wall.

There isn’t any characters in this book which are likeable, the main guy is a knob. The whole thing is just over the top...wins everything, gets everything, becomes the best, gets the above super legendary quest chain blah blah.

Good story ruined by the main character

The main character sometimes seems that he is a smart person and the others is actually retarded he knows he's in a game but act like it's real life. Constantly wasting time doing stupid things clearly he's mentally challenged I'm not joking.
