About this listen

Scandal and intrigue among the rich and famous, Players is the glamorous debut novel from the bestselling author of The Paris Secret, Karen Swan.

Harry Hunter is the new golden boy of the literary scene. With his books selling by the millions, the paparazzi on his tail, and a supermodel on each arm, he seems to have the world at his feet. Women all over the globe adore him but few suspect that his angelic looks hide a darker side, a side that conceals a lifetime of lies and deceit.

Tor, Cress and Kate have been best friends for as long as they can remember. Through all the challenges of marriage, raising children and maintaining their high flying careers, they have stuck together as a powerful and loyal force to be reckoned with – living proof that twenty-first century women can have it all, and do. It is only when the captivating Harry comes into their lives that things begin to get complicated, as Tor, Cress and Kate are drawn into Harry's dangerous games . . .

Totally worth it

Okay, so this was initially a bit of a slow burn, but it quickly got its momentum and then phew, what a plot! As the characters developed and the story line unfolded it kept you guessing at every little turn, but just when you think you’ve got it sussed, and it leads you think it’s going to be quite transparent… there’s another twist! Absolutely fantastic read, I totally recommend it. Kept you on your toes, I won’t spoil it anymore. It’s a fantastic book go got it! Oh and there’s a brilliant red heron in there to boot!

Not Karen Swan' best

I'm a big Karen Swan fan but really struggled with this one- nowhere near as enigmatic, clever or enjoyable as her other books. Some of that may be down to the narrator, who's female voices grated and made male characters sound like breathless old men to the point it was a little bit creepy. It is hard to get into a story when you really dont like any of the characters... it did pick up from the middle through to the end and I'm glad I stuck with it. Will be avoiding this narrator at all costs in future.

I love Karen Swan and have worked my way through most of her books but this is one of my favourites. Love the different storylines and characters, kept me hooked and great narration too.

irritating narration

unfortunately the book was ruined for me by the narrator's attempts at male voices. The male characters were supposed to be sexy and young but instead sounded like pompous, sleezy old men. it really.put me off. I.liked her voice but the.put on accents are not necessary. just read please, don't do voices!

Unpredictable

As the book went on I struggled more to turn it off as I wanted to know more. It also though became quite complicated and I struggled at times to follow the story, it required more concentration than I'm used to in an audible book.
On the whole I really enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to another book by this author.

Holes in the story

I enjoy Imogen Church narrations so found this book looking for her. Whilst I was gripped, by the end I found massive holes in the plot which has put me off this author.
