Read this book when it first came out and loved it. So excited to get the audio version. The narration is poor and irritating. Very monotone.The awful “ huhs” at the end of sentences to indicate humour.However she can’t destroy the book. Wish they would stick with the narrator of Riders who was excellent.

Read this back in 1991 for the first time and have read it many times since. The audible version does it full justice. Still one of the best novels ever.

I’ve never read the Jilly Cooper series before and my sister has always been on about me reading them .How I’ve never read them before I will never know because I absolutely adore them. They give you every emotion you can imagine from laughing to yourself, smiling snuggly, angry with how horses were treated , how women were treated . But on positive
Notes feels like to be in love. Cherish the series and I can’t wait for the next book.

Having watched Rivals on TV recently I decided to listen to the book that I’d read as a teenager. I’ve now listened to Riders and this fantastic book Polo, which is just so good and most definitely better second time around with the added bonus of the talented narrator telling the tale. Thank you Jilly for three hours of pure entertainment!
