Summary

The Phantoms are back with a vengeance…and the City of Angels will never be the same.

I never asked for the spotlight, but inheriting a pro hockey team pulls me into a world of chaos. All eyes are on me now. I’m no stranger to the world of hockey, but watching from the sidelines and calling the shots are two very different things. Especially when you’re not wanted.

It’s time for me to take charge and clean house. When I need people I can trust, one man comes to mind…my ex. He’s one of the best goalies in the league, and despite what went down between us, he’s still in my corner. It’s our little arrangement off the ice that complicates things. If I’m going to make my power play, I need him by my side, but that means keeping our heads in the game, and our hearts out of the equation.

Second time for the win

This series starter was pretty solid. It had romance, suspense and a great team in the making. Both characters were strong, stubborn and a little bit egotistical but the love for each other was strong enough to survive a whole decade without each other. I had a blast listening to this and highly recommend.

Excellent Story & Narration🎧Riveting & Steamy!

This is a fabulous start to a new series, a sports romance series featuring members of the L.A. Phantoms hockey team. And this first book is not only a second chance romance, but a second chance for the L.A. Phantoms, too. The team owner passed away and left the team to his wife, Harper, but her stepsons tried fighting her for it and during that time they ran the team to the ground, to the last ranking team in the division. The courts deemed Harper Barrowman as the rightful owner and she is finally taking over the team and, with a master in business, she plans to bring it back to its glory, to a winning team. She knows she will run into resistant as a woman in an industry that is predominantly ran my males, but is up for the challenge. One of her first calls was to Gabe Deluga, her first husband, who is a goalie for the Lauderdale Knights. She is nearing the end of his career, but knows he will be an asset to the teams, help boost morale in the locker room and will have her back. Gabe was at his lowest being taken to the cleaners by his third ex-wife and he gave her some resistance, but he makes her a counteroffer, if she could get his latest ex-wife off of his back he will transfer to her team. She makes it happen, and he moves across the country to L.A and right into her guest house, a bungalow. Neither were looking to rekindle their relationship, but it was clear the chemistry between them never fizzled out and that their love for each other never really died. I loved how everything played out in this book, the writing, plot and world building are fantastic, as are the character growth and development. There is plenty of drama, Harper facing challenges building her team and with her stepsons, as well as navigating her relationship with Gabe, who has his own challenges, life is not as simple as it was when they were first married and neither are the same person either and it was great to watch that all unfold. Kat Mizera, thank you for this wonderfully captivating story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 Tieran Wilder and Alex Knox were fantastic bringing these characters to life, and did so with a complete understanding of who they were portraying, giving each a voice that was fitting and believable. Wilder nailed it as Harper, grasping every aspect of her personality, a strong, confident woman who was not afraid of going after what she wanted. Knox was just as amazing in his role as Gabe, also grasping every aspect of his personality. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling them all. These two voice artists are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for this fabulous listen.
