About this listen
In Prisoner of Rose Island, coincidence meets fate in a tangled and intriguing plot…
When Ellyssa finds herself stranded and alone on a mysterious island, her life takes a sharp turn. Bereaved by the loss of her mother, she finds solace in the hands of Marie, her seemingly benevolent guardian who conceals a heart as dark as the raging sea.
Ellyssa also meets Dawson, who fuels something inside her, but when disaster strikes again, she's left alone at the mercy of Marie.
She virtually becomes a prisoner on an island intertwined with her roots, and Marie will stop at nothing to ensure she snatches that destiny from Ellyssa. But there is more to the Island than meets the eye, and Ellyssa might reunite with the surmised ghosts of her past.

I enjoyed the narration of Joy Hayward
After a shipwreck, Ellyssa finds herself washed up on the shores of a mysterious island. He memory is fuzzy. Ellyssa finds she is being cared for by a woman called Marie. Maria seems to be a kind and caring guardian, but who is she? Maria warns Ellyssa about a mysterious lighthouse keeper. Soon she meets Dawson, who warns her against Marie and they form a close friendship, but trouble is not far away. This book has adventure, mystery, love and romance.

INTRIGUING
This is the first book by this author I have listened to and I have to say that I enjoyed it, I enjoyed the story which intrigued me and held my attention from beginning to end it's well-written and the characters are well-drawn and interesting, The storyline is one that if you've read the blurb you will have an idea of what to expect but it won't tell you how detailed the author's writing style is or how well she builds the tension which kept me listening and intrigued all the way through.
I don't want to give any spoilers, the story is too good and knowing what happens before Ms Byler reveals it would indeed spoil your enjoyment. What I will say is that for once a story about a sixteen-year-old lead character portrays her believably and sympathetically. I found myself invested in Ellyssa's story which was full of mystery, treachery, faith, love and romance,
I liked the narration by Jouy Hayward, she portrayed all the characters well especially Ellyssa who she brought to life beautifully.

a good clean Christian mystery
A captivating Christian mystery. After a shipwreck, Ellyssa is washed up on the shores of a mysterious island, with little memory. She is taken in and cared for by Marie. who seems to be a benevolent guardian in the beginning. But who is she really? And who is the mysterious lighthouse keeper who Marie warns her about?
Eventually, she meets Dawson, who warns her against Marie and they form a close friendship until disaster strikes again.
I’m giving five stars to this story, and five stars for the narrator who is brilliant.

Sweet historical fiction
This story transports you to a not so long gone past where a naively sweet girl lives a sheltered life on an island. Her guardian is not what she initially seems and our heroine finds out fairly late into the story that she’s in a very precarious situation. There are many twists and turns, which I won’t spoil for you, that both the heroine and her love interest go through before the conclusion of the book. The book is written in a very competent manner and narration is absolutely superb. The fictional story has some Christian undertones but they support the story in describing the way some of our ancestors lived and thought. Overall, this is a pleasant book, which I’ve enjoyed listening to.

A bit too innocent but a nice story.
This is a gentle story about a young girl who is possibly a little too innocent and naive. The island sounds like a real and lovely place. There are some good characters and the narrator brings them to life really well. Overall an enjoyable story.
