About this listen

Critical race theory is one of the hottest and most controversial topics in the world today, but what is it, really? Rightly understood, critical race theory is a reinvention of an older, terrible idea, Marxism, using race "as the central construct for understanding inequality" in place of economic class. That is, critical race theory is race Marxism. The evidence of this claim is so overwhelming upon even casual examination that it is a shock that it isn't immediately plain to everyone who encounters it. Therefore, this audiobook by James Lindsay, the leading investigator of critical race theory, serves less to make the case that critical race theory is race Marxism and more to serve as a long permission slip to the public to call critical race theory what it plainly is.

Race Marxism exists to tell the truth about critical race theory in unprecedented clarity and depth. Across its six weighty chapters, Lindsay explains what critical race theory is, what it believes, where it comes from, how it operates, and what we can do about it now that we know what we're dealing with. It exposes critical race theory for what it is by ranging widely across its own literature and a survey of some of the darkest philosophical currents of the last 300 in Western thought. Listeners will come away understanding critical race theory and be able to speak the truth about it with authority: Critical race theory is race Marxism, and, like all Marxist theories before it, it will not work this time.

Brilliant expose

The "long march through the institutions" wonderfully explained in this truly scholarly work. James Lindsay is one of only a very few clear thinkers writing today. Thank you.

Simply brilliant.

Made so much more understandable about the sources and true intentions of this ideological group of people who appear to be infecting our lives.

A Difficult, But Important Read

The first thing I have to point out to prospective readers of this book, and why I gave it four and not five stars, is that it isn't light reading, not by any measure. In fact, this is a very heavy read in terms of the nature of the complex language used. I found myself reaching for a dictionary definition on more than one occasion to be honest, or not able to fully grasp the convoluted and syllable dense sentences used. Not a bad thing, of course. After all, how is one to further one's understanding without being stretched. To that end, I'd say I managed to grasp just enough of what was being said to confirm that what I felt I understood about Critical Race Theory was indeed so.

The author methodically cites many prominent CRT proponents writings in order to make his case, and it's a devastating one that should leave readers concerned. The author uses the prominent CRT figures, in their own words, to show us how Marxist based CRT really is, and, like Marxist beliefs, will ultimately conclude, if not checked, into an authoritarian and controlling, dare I say dictatorial, regime.

Think that's over the top? Then think again and listen to the quoted words of CRT proponents like Ibram X. Kendi who are calling for constitutional changes that would see a "Department of anti racism" (DOA) to oversee and enforce all forms of racial inequity, staffed by CRT followers with sweeping powers to apply their policies wherever and whenever they find it ... and, based on the central premise of CRT, they will find it everywhere.

As stated, this isn't an easy read and perhaps the most digestible element of this is the included podcast at the end of the book that is a free form discussion. Like me, I think most readers will find this part much easier to understand and provides a nice summary of the book as a whole and uses simpler language to do it.

I would've liked more real world examples of how CRT is being employed as it would have provided a little more context to the threat that CRT poses to rational thought. Douglas Murray's War on The West, a book I highly recommend to anyone wanting to explore the woke world in which we find ourselves in today, provides a plethora of real world examples of CRT in practice. One of my favourites is 'Equitable maths' being taught in schools in Canada and how academics, heavily invested in CRT, tried their best to prove that 2 + 2 could equal 5!

I would urge younger readers to consider this in order to offer them the means by which to challenge the core principals behind CRT. I fear it's the young and those wanting to virtue signal that are most likely to jump onboard with, what is in my view, a poisonous and dangerous form of radical belief that seems predicated on grievance and has a racist answer to absolutely anything that challenges it.

Become informed, not indoctrinated.

I understand CRT more now

Hard going but worth it. The woke are just enabling society's downfall, by doing what they think is 'good work'. Funny really, as I always thought from the start of this BS, that 'inclusion' and 'diversity' felt, well...sinister.

Rebuttal please.

I look forward to the various ambassadors of Critical Theory to refute Mr Lindsay's claims. Good luck with that.

Excellent book, well researched

This book is an eye opener. It explains what cultural Marxism is and how it gains control through bullying tactics and other means. We’ll worth the listen

An excellent walking companion.

A friend told me that there was a new book from 'Nudist Courses', I fancied a nudist life with this global warming, so I bought it.
To be honest I learned nothing about nudism but it is a fantastic explanation of critical theories.
I advise keeping a notebook handy for the background information you may have to look up if you're not completely immersed in gender/race politics.

Great work

Essential reading for today's insanity within institutions in academia, law and government. Streamlines a lot of the New Discourses podcast content into a quite comprehensive and well organised piece, keeping it easy to read without skipping necessary detail.
