An American Children's Classic

This was my first experience of the Raggedy Ann books and I found them quite sweet. They were written around 1918 and are obviously of their time but I think they could still be enjoyed by small children today.

I personally don't find them as endearing as Beatrix Potter (whose books are over 100 years old) or the Milly Molly Mandy stories (which were first written in the late 1920s) but then again I read those books first as a child and so they have an emotional and nostalgic resonance for me that the Raggedy Ann books do not. However it is clear that the Raggedy Ann books and dolls have been beloved by many american children for almost a century.

I think the narrator was a good choice, she reads the stories very well with character and energy.
