Summary
In a world that just won’t make a lot of sense for them, you are your ADHD child’s lifeline. Make sure you’re equipped to take on this difficult yet fulfilling challenge.
Have you heard the saying: The real task of a parent is to work themselves out of a job? When your kids don’t need you, that’s when you know you are parenting well.
You want your children to grow strong, healthy, and resilient, and become competent, happy, and fulfilled in their lives. You know you won’t always be around to be their safety net, so they need to become competent and effective in their own right, at some point.
But adding ADHD into the mix means we need to bring a whole different level of thinking to our parenting strategies.
It’s not just about managing what the rest of the world sees as naughty or bad behavior. It’s not just about getting them to sit still, be quiet, and obey. That kind of thinking went out with the Titanic!
You can transform your child’s life experience, and your relationship with them, from one of struggle to one of meaningful joy and ease.
Changing your view of your ADHD child from that of a problem to be solved, to an exciting and fascinating puzzle to unlock is the first step, and this guide will show you the rest.
In this practical and realistic book, you will discover:
- What it is like inside an ADHD mind, and how you can step inside their world and understand them a whole lot better
- Powerful parenting strategies that help unlock your child’s superpowers and strengths, building them up rather than breaking them down
- What to do about the difficult aspects of raising an ADHD child, such as meltdowns, defiance, hyperactivity, and lack of focus
- Top tips and tricks to help your child work with their ADHD rather than struggle against it—and make studying, focusing, and socializing so much easier for everyone
- How to speak so your ADHD child hears you

A beacon of wisdom for Parents!
It is a beacon of wisdom for parents navigating the challenges of raising a child with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. As I immersed myself in the second chapter, "A New Strategy for ADHD," I found a resonance with the narrative. The personal stories and practical tips on managing ADHD behaviors sparked memories of my own struggles in understanding and supporting a dear friend's child with ADHD. The chapter not only offered invaluable insights but also equipped me with a newfound understanding of the importance of patience and tailored strategies in fostering a positive environment for children with ADHD. Presently, I find myself applying these lessons in my interactions, creating a more supportive and understanding environment. In the realm of narration, Gretchen Weber's delivery is nothing short of exceptional.

Good Guide
This is a well-written compassionate guide to the ins and outs of raising a child with ADHD. It includes an overview of what ADHD is and the various strategies one would need to help you and the child grow through the issues and unique struggles both children and caregivers face. I especially liked the way this book approaches the issue of helping the children to grow and not just get by. This includes established routines, a supportive environment, and managing symptoms. Overall, it's a great book!
