Summary
"Twilight meets Harry Potter." Fans of magic, mystery and romance will fall in love with book number one in the Amazon Best-Selling Star-Crossed Series!
Sixteen-year-old Eden Matthews has been in and out of private schools for the last two years. She can't seem to stop herself from closing them down. Kingsley is her last chance to finish high school. Only Kingsley isn't like the other schools she's been to. The students are different. But, then again, so is she. After meeting Kiran Kendrick, the mysterious boy who seems to be the source of all her problems, she is suddenly in a world that feels more make-believe than reality.
When her best friend Lilly is taken away and Kiran's life is threatened, Eden finds herself right in the middle of an ancient war that is so much bigger than high school. She alone has to find a way to save her best friend and the boy who has captivated her heart.
Reckless Magic is an intricate story about adventure, magic and forbidden love. Eden Matthews is an unlikely heroine determined to save the world and be with her one, true love before it's too late.

very slow book for teen girls
listened to the 1st 4 hours and had to stop, it's just a bit basic and flat. it's very slow and I think aimed at teen girls, not sure why it came up as a suggestion for me.

so frustrating
first time I've not finished an audible book, if you were this main character you'd have 50 thousands more questions than she ever asks let alone any information she is told, none of the characters have depth and none are likeable feels like the story needs filling out in so many places, also major point .......school for magic users that doesn't teach magic, so who taught them magic ? why are they all so rich? why does no one bother to explain anything. so.many.questions !!

First 3 boogs are good
First 3 books have interisting story whit some twists and romance, not top listening but good. After 3 first book rest are mostly sugary love drama and some story limping on background trying not to die of sugar poisoning.

Good story
Good story, I'm enjoying the series and will continue to listen. My only niggle is that the narrator talks faster during tense moments. It's a personal irritation that I find unnecessary.

Whiney protagonist and flimsy plotting
Simply put, other pretenders to the Twilight crown have done this far better. While the overall premise is good and the world being created has potential, it's ruined by over simplification and an unnecessarily fast moving plot. For example, the protagonist and her love interest go from just meeting to soul mates who can't be apart within a few days with none of the slow burn angst that makes these kinds of stories so engaging. Mainly the book is ruined by the protagonist herself though. I'm not sure if it's hoe she's written, the style of narration, or both, but she is sooooo melodramatic and whiney! Everything is a drama and it's exhausting. Simply put this book and the sequel is fine while they are included in the free catalogue but definitely not worth paying for!
