Rival Secrets is the first book in the Love Over Murder series. Cassie is a lawyer that loves to cook. She entered a cooking competition and was chosen the alternate chef. Evan is visiting his university friend Sean. Sean is the owner of the hotel where the competition is being held. Cassie and Evan met on set and started falling for each other. This book has a twist. There is a murder investigation during the competition. Loved this book and can’t wait for more in this series.
Samantha Brentmoor and Shane Easton did a fantastic job narrating this book.

Evan is a prince who is second in line to the throne in his country. His friend owns the hotel that is holding the competition, so he has come to town to assist. He appreciates that Cassie wants the man he is, as she isn’t aware of his royal status, but not only is he trying to uncover who is behind the suspicious activities around the competition but there is also the secret he is keeping.
Shane East was a great choice for Evan as you could feel how conflicted he was both when it came to his life and his emotions while Samantha Brentmoor allowed us to experience both the frustration and love she was feeling. Their performance was flawless and only enhanced the story.

How can it get better you ask? Have Samantha Brentmoor and Shane East tell the story! Brentmoor is just so good at finding the essence of her characters and as Cassie she is amazing. Right in her head, she is spot on in every scene. Evan comes in, there for vacation, and Shane East is right there, creating a character that is easy to love. They made a story that is exciting and passionate, the best kind of listen and I highly recommend it.

JD Carothers has weaved a great mystery, as well as nurtured a compelling romance. The spice is lower than some romances, but it allows the mystery and the connection between Cassie and Evan to take center stage.
The audio, narrated by Samantha Brentmoor and Shane East, is a fantastic way to experience this story. They both are such amazing voice actors, and they bring the emotions needed to do the story justice.
