Summary

A New York Times pick for "Best Audiobooks for Road Trips with Kids"

Exclusively on Audible, hilarious history for ages eight and up.

Fasten your falx knives and grab the reins of your quadriga: Rivals 2! More Frenemies Who Changed the World is the funniest look at people who benefited the world through their hatred.

Hear how the rivalry between Edison and Tesla literally changed the course of electricity, how sports fans nearly toppled the Roman Empire, how geniuses Chanel and Schiaparelli empowered women worldwide and had the greatest rivalry that wasn’t, and how the feud between Joe Frazier and Muhammad Ali was so intense more people tuned in to their fight than watched Neil Armstrong set foot on the moon two years earlier.

This audiobook has it all: death beams, chariot races, flaming costumes, ear-munchers, party fleas, and whatever the opposite of epic poetry is.... No fact is too bizarre, no segue too surreal, and no sequitur is too non for this riotous sequel.

Now available in Dolby Atmos on Audible.

About the Creator

Scott McCormick: When he’s not flustering emus or stymying mambas, Scott McCormick enjoys annoying his children until they tell their mother. He also writes. He writes all kinds of stuff. Some of it is good. He wrote the Mr. Pants series of graphic novels. Those were good. You should totally check them out. So are the books he writes for Audible, including Rivals! Frenemies Who Changed the World, and its sequel, Rivals 2. He’s also excited about his first novel, The Dragon Squisher, which is just as funny and squishy as it sounds. Scott lives on the western edge of the easternmost part of southern North Carolina, right smack in the middle of it all.

Volume!

All together,This is a good book. However, sometimes,it becomes loud, and quiet at random voices…So it’s annoying to have to
change the volume to loud, and then suddenly have to change it to quiet.Other than that,it is good.Especially because the stories are a…
Well, nobody I know knows these rivalries. So it’s nice to find new things, also,I like the way it’s pretty informal ●‿●

Great Writing, Even Better Series

Rivals 2 is a great book, it fuses comedy and history in ways that seemed impossible to do! Be sure to see Rivals 1! I wish to see more books in the incredible Rivals series.

Another great one from Scott Mcormick

After listening to the first book, I found that the rivalries in this one are slightly more obscure than the former book. Which by the way is a good thing! I love learning about history and I’m also in secondary where we do a lot of history and hopefully I’ll be able to use this knowledge learned moving forward in school!

Behind-the-scenes stories that grabs attention

Great sequel - behind-the-scenes stories that grabbed my kids' attention.

And I learned something too! Another four stories from history that may be familiar, but written for children in an engaging manner (with contemporary 'voices' and touches (lots of asides of 'Booger Face' and silly comments).

Edison and Tesla, Coco Chanel and Schiaperelli (totally alien to me!), Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier (this got very intense) and Roman charioteers. Great selection, good background to each pair in each story. Sometimes the detail was a little much for my 7-year-old but he DID keep listening and clearly enjoyed these stories on the whole.

They've both (ages 13 and 7) asked for the others in the series (Pirates, Vikings), so back to Audible we go.

Great to see history being brought to life for young listeners - it doesn't all have to be Horrible-type histories, the stories are interesting enough as they are.

Brought to life by readers, audiobook is a perfect format for these stories.
