Absolute cracking listen 10/10 recommend

Absolutely brilliant collection of traditional Scottish tales, delivered with great depth, charm and humour. Captures all the magic and the strange darkness of the wild, old tales, in a way which makes them relatable and engaging for the modern listener. I especially loved the geographical and historical context, which truly brought them alive for me and sent me scurrying off to learn more. The narration is pitch perfect, in a gorgeous Scottish accent. I have both the e-book and the audible book and am enjoying them both in different ways. 10/10 recommend, along with the earlier volume for anyone interested in Scottish folklore, or just anyone who enjoys a rattling good tale, beautifully told. Can’t think of anyone who wouldn’t find enjoyment here, so I’ll be buying plenty of copies as gifts in weeks to come, although bare in mind some of the tales are quite grim and maybe be unsuitable for younger readers. Also thoroughly recommend Daniel Allison’s other books and his superb podcast, House of Legends, which is always well worth a listen.
