About this listen
Crazy. Dangerous. Monster.
Shane Trevisano knows what the town of Steam Valley, California thinks of him, and he's happy being their bogeyman in the woods. After suffering horrific burns that left him disfigured, all the former SEAL wants is to be left alone in his remote cabin with his demons. But the outside world keeps encroaching, and when a woman shows up on his doorstep with two bullet holes, Shane's already tenuous hold on sanity starts to slip.
In a town full of secrets, he's the one they blame.
Alexis Summers wakes up in a strange cabin, held captive by a man who both terrifies and intrigues her, with only a vague memory of the killer who tried to end her life. As they navigate the dangerous dance between captor and captive, she realizes there's more to Shane than meets the eye. Beneath the scars and gruff exterior, there's a man in pain, a man who desperately needs help.
But redemption comes with a price.
The townspeople are convinced Shane is the notorious serial killer known as the Shadow Stalker, and they're out for blood. Alexis refuses to believe he's capable of the horrors she's endured, but her instincts have steered her wrong in the past. Can she prove his innocence before the town enacts some backwoods justice? Or is she blinded by her growing attraction to the damaged, bad-tempered man?
If you want a sexy Beauty and the Beast retelling with a modern romantic suspense twist, you won't want to miss Searching for Redemption, the thrilling fourth installment of the Redwood Coast Rescue series by Tonya Burrows!

Fantastic Story & Narration🎧 Gripping & Intense!
Tonya Burrows pens another fantastic romantic suspense novel set in her “Redwood Coast Rescue” series and puts her own unique spin on the “Beauty and the Beast” fairytale. This fourth book features Shane Trevisano, a wounded warrior who battles his own inner demons and opts to live his life in a remote cabin on Mt. Humboldt. He prefers nature over people and only goes to town when necessary, especially since he knows the people of Steam Valley think he is a monster. The winter has not been kind, and he is in dire need of supplies, but kept putting off going to town, but the appearance of a dog needing help decides for him, so he heads to town to drop the dog off at Redwood Coast Rescue before picking up some supplies. My heart went out to him, for most people a trip to the store is simple, but for him it is a struggle, and they are not very kind to him there. Alexis Summers was in town investigating the legendary shadow stalker, and she told the sheriff that there was a serial killer on the loose, but he did not take her seriously. When Alexis is abducted and taken to a bunker in the mountain, she knows the shadow stalker is real and that she is his next victim, but she is determined to survive. Escaping and finding refuge in a cabin buys her time, but then he comes and she is convinced her days are numbered. Wow, what a story, one that grabbed my attention immediately and captivated it the whole time. There is never a dull moment, and the story has plenty of drama, angst, action, twists and turns, thrilling suspense, heartfelt emotions and a slow burn romance. As always, the writing, plot and world building are fantastic, as are the character growth and development. Tonya Burrows, thank you for another amazing story and emotional rollercoaster ride.
🎧📚🎧 Stephen Borne delivers another amazing performance, bringing these characters to life, humanizing them, giving each a voice that is fitting and believable. He nailed it as Shane, grasping every aspect of his personality, from his episodes with PTSD to his strength and determination. You could hear how much heart he puts into his work as he captures all the characters’ emotions and has you feeling each one. Borne is an entertaining storyteller and his performance elevates this already fantastic story to another level. Thank you for another fantastic listen.

Dramatic and tense
A dark and twisty romantic thriller.
The book starts very dramatically and with heart-pounding intensity as Alexis/ Lexi struggles to escape from a serial killer.
Things take a complicated turn when she stumbles on Shane's cabin and she has to rely on the easily triggered PTSD-addled recluse to keep her alive.
With a serial killer on the loose and the townspeople determined to pin the attacks on Shane, finding the true identity of Alexis' kidnapper and abuser proves near impossible and dangerous.
There are recurring side characters in this series making the story more enjoyable having them be part of the solution for Shane and Alexis.
The bad stuff that happened to Lexi is completely glossed over. Much is made of the disfigurement and PTSD that Shane has after his time in Afghanistan but Lexi's trauma is practically non-existent. Despite her experiences, she jumps into sexy time with Shane straight away. I found this representation to be very superficial and unbelievable.
The narration of this book is excellent and I look forward to listening to more of the series.

Emotional and On the Edge!
I enjoyed this book and it is an apt addition to this series. Tonya Burrows unapologetically includes difficult subjects in her books, taking them to the next level. In this book there is abduction, sexual assault, PTSD, burn scars, murder and so much more. But there is also love and healing to temper these more difficult subjects and a guaranteed HEA that the protagonists so richly deserve. Throw in some funny, sweet and intelligent search and rescue dogs to sweeten the deal! I cannot say I enjoyed the whole book, because of some of these harder topics, but I appreciated the sensitive way these topics were handled and look forward to the rest of the series! Lots of lovely characters who deserve their HEA too!

Excellent
Excellent. The book builds on the rescue and characters from the local town but this builds an impressive picture. We are getting closer to the reveal and anticipation is building. Look forward to the next book.

redemption
Amazing narration from Stephen Borne, who always brings the emotions, characters, humour and heat to your ears. Perfect.
This one book got to my heart. Shane's pain made was so heart felt. We meet Alexis who was running from the man who had kidnapped her. While Shane is in town, a place that causes him so pain to visit, Alexis stumbles into Shane cabin.
Before her kidnapping Alexis who is a podcaster was chasing a serial killer. The town folk start to believe it is Shane, because of scares and hiding himself away in his mountain cabin. Unknown or thinking he is struggling with PSTD. But its Alexis who even her own demons, saves them both. So many twists and turns .
A wonderful emotional story.

Intense suspense + hot romance
I love this series of wounded/scarred veterans finding love when they least expect it. This book had more on-page action scenes than previous books and I felt that suited the characters well. Every time I think I've figured out things the author throws in a twist. Love it!
Content warning: off-page SA is discussed
Narration was excellent. My first book by this narrator but definitely won't be the last.

Fabulous romantic suspense!
To say I can't get enough of this series is an understatement. Tonya Burrows gives the perfect mix of romance and suspense to push all the right button for me. This one is on the edge of the seat excitement as a serial killer is on the loose and Alexis, a true crime podcast host has gone missing. Lucky for her, she has gotten away and gets taken in by Shane, a recluse. Now the race is on to get her to a hospital and find the shadow killer. But Shane is finding himself the main suspect. Will Lexi be able to convince him to stay off the mountain and in town? Will he get the help he needs? Will Lexi be okay? Will the killer be caught? Burrows took me on a whirlwind of twists and turns with this one. I loved Shane and appreciate his backstory. Burrows compassionately, yet realistically shows how difficult it can be for a soldier to come back to civilian life and adjust after the tragedies they have seen. Lexi is perfect for Shane, seeing him for the man he is, not the scars he has. And the dogs are such an important part of each story! The biggest plus for me after the fabulous story is the cameos from characters in previous books, which gives that continuity and feeling of family. I am in love with this series, one of the best I have heard.
And with that being said, Stephen Borne is incredible as he brings this gem alive. Each voice is realistic to the character and he brings all the feelings out. From the terror of being kidnapped to true love, he finds each nuance to make the scene genuine. Love his voice and know when he is telling the story, it's going to be good.

Beauty and the beast, mostly stand alone in series
Searching for redemption can be read as a stand alone in that it starts with the meeting of Alexis & Shane and their relationship doesn’t end in a cliffhanger. There are larger story arcs for the series as a whole that continue on and (what I’m sure are) future relationships introduced so it would be best to read in series. It reminded me of a modern version of beauty and the beast,
Stephen Borne did a great job with the audio. He’s narrated the rest of the series and he’s done really well with it.
I received a copy of this audiobook at my request, and the opinions here are my own.

Shane and Alexis
We came to Shane as reclusive- living far up the mountain and just in need to be left alone by anyone. So when Alexis literally stumbles into his cabin out of the blue, he’s not quite happy. To say the least. What comes next is a thrilling adventure the both of them have to endure though neither one of them trusts the other. At first. And then there’s Shane’s past catching up with him in the most horrible way. And don’t forget about the Shadow Stalker-as he’s still around. Stalking. Hunting. Great story with lots of characters from the previous books in the series showing up.
Stephen Borne has the perfect voice to bring all the characters to life. Wonderful and enjoyable to listen to him narrate.

Emotionally charged listen
This is Shane and Alexis's story. Shane has become a recluse due to his PTSD. When he finds Alexis in his cabin his paranoia kicks in. But perhaps helping someone just as damaged and hurt as himself is the way forward to healing them both.
This is an emotionally charged read with s great plot and strong character A wonderful listen and the narration did an excellent job.
