Summary
Penguin presents the audiobook edition of Secrets by Lesley Pearse, read by Sophie Ablett.
Without her mother she is alone in the world . . .
Twelve-year-old Adele is placed in a bleak, cruel children's home after a family tragedy drives her mother to madness. But when trust is betrayed Adele has no choice but to run away . . .
Alone and friendless, she heads for Sussex, to seek out the grandmother she has never known. However the journey, without food or shelter, leaves her desperately ill. Surrounded by the beautiful Rye Marshes, Adele is nursed back to health.
Can she now dream of a new life? But what will happen when her mother reappears, bearing shocking family secrets?

astounding
about a mother who loved one daughter and hated the other.
a mother made one daughters life a living hell and lavished love and attention on the other.
but further into the book we find out the truth about the mother and as we hate her for her actions we find out just how she behaved in the manor she did.

Lovely story shite narration
Having read the book and listened to the audio book the story is one of my favourites, it’s beautifully written and a truly gripping and beautiful story. The narration however is terrible. She’s tries to put on voices for each character but they’re just embarrassing ruins the whole book really. I’ll be reading it myself next time

Terrible narration
Brilliant story, as with all Lesley Pearce novels. Sophie Albert is a poor narrator. Some of the male voices were just ridiculous!! Surely someone much better could be found??

Typical Lesley Pearce book!
Loved the book as with all Lesley Pearce. The narrator song the male voices was rather irritating with no passion and slow.

Great story!
Lots of people moaned about the narrator but she was fine, some voices a bit odd, but it didn't distract from a great story

Another great story!
Another great story - shame about the narration!! Sophie Ablett is horrendous!
I stuck with it because I love Lesley Pearse's books and the story did not disappoint. If you can get past the appalling narration and terrible put on voices, stick with it. Never shall I listen to this narrator again.

Secrets is what it is
Good story line well explained the only thing that let it down was the women’s voice it really grated on you but well worth a listen to
