About this listen
Curious about the modern love affair with criminal personalities, investigative reporter Conor Woodman spent four years exploring the hidden depths of dynamic cities across the globe.
Sharks takes us on a journey through the lawless backstreets of cities as diverse as Mumbai, Bogotá, New Orleans, Barcelona and London. In each he uncovers the people and the scams that keep the global black economy moving.

"While this book is at turns astonishing and frightening, it is peppered with great wit and the reader will occasionally find it hard to stop themselves from laughing out loud." (Misha Glenny)
it put me there next to Conor!! An eye opener!!

But, I was not happy to hear the part from Jerusalem, in my opinion it shows an almost Anti-Semitic view you the author. Being able to almost forgive many hard core criminals around the globe with exception of fake art dealers in Israel and describing the country as the worst experience the author had anywhere, shows a clear dislike of the locals and opposite felling about the surrounding countries ‘loosing their cultural heritage’. I think the author purposely ignores the fact that the people having border checks are the very same people daily reminded by the surrounding countries that these countries want the Israel population to die. Personal political views are ok, and so is anyone’s opinion towards them.
Having mentioned that a very likeable story and I look forward to read more from this author.
Great book.
In some ways an eye opener, a great listening, but...
