Summary

Live...laugh...listen...with New York Times best-selling author Christie Craig....

"Quirky, touching and fun!" (New York Times best-selling author Susan Andersen)

Welcome to Precious, Texas, where fistfights serve as dinner theater and fire ants rain from the sky. The locals are very friendly, if a bit eccentric. No pictures, please, or you may find yourself a guest of the county morgue.

Photojournalist Shala Winters already had her hands full bringing tourism to this backward, Podunk town, but her job just got tougher. Pictures can say a thousand words, and one of Shala's is screaming bloody murder. Now she has to entrust a macho, infuriating lawman with her life - but she'll never trust him with her heart.

Trusted or not, Sky Gomez isn't about to let a killer get his hands on Shala's Nikon - or any of her more comely assets, for that matter. Her mouth might move faster than a Piney Woods roadrunner, but all he can think about is how good it must taste...and how she'll never escape true love.

Look like a loon laughing out loud as I read.

I can not rate this book more. Although a warning should come with it "only read when alone" why? that's simple you will physically laugh out loud at various times through this book. I am not joking from a small laugh escaping at the memory of Shala's dog humped leg or a larger than life, all the way from the bottom of your diaphragm booming laugh at a Jose filled bath, It will happen. Craig has written this so well that even though it has 5 characters point of views Its so easy to read. You can loose yourself in the magic of a good story. Each character is set up brilliantly from the start. Each one following a path that interlinks with each other without feeling forced or confusing in anyway. I don't want to spoil this for anyone so all I will say is you MUST read this book. I read is every year or so and every time I still find myself getting looked at like a loon because I'm sat in a park or even my sofa at home laughing my socks off as I read.
Audible version - Violet Strong narrators well throughout. Her voice seems perfectly suited for Shala however given there is the 2 main characters (1 male 1 female) and then the 3 sub characters (2 males, 1 female) her vocal range goes a long way. She does a fantastic job wither it be instilling a sense of wisdom when voicing Redfoot, or that feeling of a warm heart in the voice of Maria. I will admit having read this book before and knowing full well that there is 5 different characters, with 5 different personality not to mention the difference in age I was sceptical when I noticed there was only 1 narrator. However, It wasn't until I decided to write this review that I had to double check this information was correct. She is that good.
