About this listen

After a close friend's apparent suicide, Christopher Cornwell receives several photos the friend mailed prior to his death. Cornwell subsequently discovers by chance the presence in one of the photos of Lee Harvey Oswald, the alleged assassin of President Kennedy. But how could Oswald be photographed in a small Hertfordshire market town when he was supposed to be living in Russia as a defector at the same time?

As Cornwell investigates the story behind the photos he unknowingly becomes the target of an investigation himself, by a shadowy agency as determined to maintain its secrets now as in 1963.

Anthony Frewin was born in London and lives in Hertfordshire. He was assistant film director to Stanley Kubrick for over 20 years. He has written three novels, London Blues, Sixty-Three Closure and Scorpion Rising.

Critic reviews

“The great JFK conspiracy novel... the assassination in Dealey Plaza will never seem the same again. Darkly imaginative and believable... a totally original ‘secret history’ of our time” (Larry Celona, Chief Crime Correspondent, New York Post)

great book and well narrated however it just ends with no real answer :-)

The ending is very dissapointing

Page turner with plenty of twists and turns. I enjoyed the narrator/actor, and the wide range of characters he portrayed with believable realism.

Dark forces at large.

Book finished just as the story was developing although brought to life by the excellent narrator Paul Thornley

Gripping at times

Like Frewins other books I’ve listened to over Christmas, this is fantastically written and narrated. The supposed cross-over between fact and fiction is very clever and rather unsettling. Anthony Frewin knows how to mix both with just the right amount of each ingredient. I sincerely hope he continues to produce his works.
Very highly recommended.

Superb and unsettling story…..

Found it very entertaining but the main character was a bit slow on the uptake. Definitely worth a listen

Thoroughly enjoyable

A seemingly daft premise but delivered very, very well.

I'd never listened to any by the author previously - all those wasted years!

Well-written, twisty-turny plot, good believable narration.

An excellent listen.

Great listen

Well that was a strange story. The main protagonist really irritated me, I personally doubt whether he could do anything without a couple of bottles of vodka, and the fact the story turned out as it did is a reflection of relationship with alcohol. Did Smirnoff sponsor the author we should be told.

Strange tale sponsored by the vodka makers of the UK
