Aurora Hart hates everything Christmas, but how could she turn down the opportunity to serve one year of probation in Holiday Haven versus a full sentence for her crimes? Saddled with a talking squirrel roommate, Aurora is doing her best to keep a low profile as she bides her time. Everything is going fine...until Santa's sleigh gets stolen.

Now, all eyes are on her and the other town Humbugs, and it's up to Aurora to keep her behind from ending up back in jail. With the help of a very important person from the North Pole, she finds herself hot on the trail of the real culprit. Wanted some light listerning post new year celebrations. I was not expecting much but was pleasantly surprised overall with this audible two tale book. Truly dislike january but must admit this brought a smile to my face and stirred up the remanants of my Christmas Cheer.

I enjoyed this book. There are two stories in this book with the main story/ mystery getting wrapped up nicely before humbug holiday starts which is a feel good story about finding the right gift for the right person and is a continuation of the main story. I love the quirky humbug characters who all for some reason or another dislikes Christmas and the fact that most of them are there because they broke the law, very unusual and works well. It is a paranormal cozy so expect shifters, vampires, talking animals and lots of magic. The reason this book and I think probably the whole series (of which I will be reading ) stands out is because of the Christmas feel to the mystery. I loved it especially if you want help getting into the Christmas spirit.
Aurora starts her new job and despite hating Christmas she can't help but make friends with a half elf, who opens up her whole world and might even change her mind about Christmas. When Santa's sleigh is stolen Aurora finds herself behind bars along side other residents of the town who hate Christmas. Calling themselves the humbugs the unlikely group of friends set out to find the missing sleigh because if Mrs Claus believes in you then you and thinks you are the right people for the job, then you can't let her down.
I read this book last year at Christmas but think I enjoyed it even more read by the narrator. There is something magical she did with the characters voices that just brings them to life, I especially loved Nutty the squirrel

I really enjoyed this Christmas story which includes Christmas, fantasy and crime. The gentle humour, cosy crime and sweet romance work really well together.

This is the most fun Christmas romance from Audible that I've listened to so far. It's romantic but not super smutty (nothing wrong with that if it's what you want, but in some books it sneaks up on you--it won't in this one), and the animal and nature characters are adorable. Real Christmas magic.

What's not to like? The characters are portrayed expertly, the story is fun, emotive, with a good mystery sprinkled with little magical snow flakes. Pure beauty, a must read!
