Summary

Cole Riker is a Slip Runner.

A contractor tasked with finding alien salvage in exchange for credits. For an ex-smuggler like Cole, there’s a catch: Don’t break the terms of parole. That means doing things by the book.

Find salvage, turn it in, get paid.

But everything changes when a retrieval mission lands him in a previously unknown sector. There, he finds the material he’s been sent to recover, along with something more....

A brand-new form of ancient alien life.

Such a thing could change the entire Alliance, the Galaxy, and everything between, but most of all, it could change Cole's life for the better.

A shift in humanity’s future is at hand, and Cole is the one holding the key. He just has to survive long enough to use it.

USA Today best-selling author J.N. Chaney and M.F. Lerma bring you a brand-new series. If you're a fan of traditional heroes and old school sci-fi, this is the story for you.

Wonderful start to a new part of the world

It's a book series that doesn't assume you know everything about the previous books based in this world but without tonnes of exposition. Enjoyed it a lot and didn't feel left out that I hadn't read a fair bit of the earlier books. The narrator Neill Thorne did a fantastic job and allowed me to follow the book with his voices without effort. What can I say I've already purchased book 2 :)

"When in doubt, reboot."

Cole Riker, renegade, was working his parole as a slip runner, collecting alien debris from space after the war whch had nearly ended mankind. But he was barely earning sufficient to keep out of prison. And there were some people out to get him...
Action filled and fun, plus an alien, this is a joyful romp through space chases and fights well performed by Neill Thorne

Good story.

I enjoyed the yarn. A little predictable at times but that didn't take away from the enjoyment. Well narrated.
