About this listen
Flynn was one of the elite, a highly trained sniper in the British army who was proud of his skills and lived by a strict moral code. But even the best can crack when the stress becomes intolerable and now he’s on the rampage bearing a grudge and carrying an arsenal of stolen weapons. He believes that good soldiers are being killed because governments go to war over oil. In his twisted mind, anyone who drives a gas guzzling four by four is the enemy and deserves to die. As he carves a trail of terror and death across the country, the authorities are closing in. But for one man, it’s become personal. Nick Sullivan is holding a grudge of his own and is hard on the heels of the sniper. But when he finally hunts down his quarry, will his thirst for revenge blind him to the fact that he’s no match for a professionally trained killer? For Flynn is the best there is. He’s a master of his craft.

Great third outing for Nick Sullivan
This is the third in Karla Forbes Nick Sullivan thriller series. I love the concept (spoiler if you haven’t read the earlier books) of Nick falling into the profession after being an investment banker, so not being the most competent spy, but definitely the most enthusiastic (and hot-headed). And he continues to not follow orders in this very competent thriller.
This time, Nick’s pursuing a lead in his own time when an old Uni friend’s name is discovered on a list in a dead hitman’s pocket, so he’s taken Annalise on a holiday to Scotland. But that holiday becomes more dangerous and more personal than Nick could ever have bargained for.
Once again, a good story, which is very well narrated by Craig Bowles, as Nick tries to find out why his old friend, Andrew is a target, and what, if anything, links the dead hitman and the sniper who is slowly working his way north. With a hitman who decides almost on a whim who is guilty and deserving to be killed, and Nick and Annalise finding themselves in his cross-hairs, the author balances tension with humour to keep the reader interested throughout.

Superb
Honestly just nail biting stuff!
From a peaceful break away to just utter mayhem.
Rollercoaster of emotions.
I don’t do spoilers, but honestly aaargh I was up & down with this 1, my most favourite yet!
I think between Karla Forbes & Craig Bowles it’s a great team. Craig just gets the narration going, excellent.

Really enjoyable - narration was brilliant
Oh what can I say - just gets better and better. So glad Annaleise was back into the mix, you so cant take Nick seriously. What an ending, cant wait to see how that is resolved. Hard to write without spoilers.
Such a fun listen but there were a lot of serious issues there which made you think about where the world is going.
I was given a free copy by the narrator but that in no way impacted my review.

A super new author to me.
My first Karla Forbes book and boy did I enjoy it! Since it’s book three in the series,I will have to go back and read the other two. No hardship I assure you. The story was wide ranging with lots of characters and subplots interwoven, but all came together very nicely. The characters were interesting individually and the way they interacted was great. A definite page turner with a refreshingly different and clear sighted view from possibly my favourite character Annie! The only little downside for me was the narrator lack of defining a change of scene or chapter. He has a very nice voice, clear diction, but I’m afraid, for me, I think I would prefer to read Ms Forbes books. This was a free copy that I received.

Adventurous
What with a madman shooting 4 x 4 drivers, old friends in danger and pretending they're going on a walking holiday in Scotland, Nick Sullivan soon has his hands pretty full in Sniper. Good job he's not engaged to me because the madman would have needed to shoot me dead before I'd go on a walking holiday anywhere! There are so many threads in this story, once again eloquently performed by Graig Bowles, but because they are all quite disparate at no time does it become confusing. In fact it's very clever the way in which Ms Forbes brings them all together for the final resolution. Then there's the ending - no spoilers here but really? Really? How can you do this to me? Now I'm all of a tizzy! You'll have to listen to it to find out why, but I cannot believe what Ms Forbes has done to me! #justsaying

Nail biting, intelligent, actioner with morality
From the first page, this is very fast paced actioner, but with smarts, again deftly told by Karla Forbes. She pulls the many threads of the plot together to the very end, with a fantastic conclusion and twist?? Well, you'll have to listen, won't you?
Nick, again is the everyman, with his particular set of skills, (his quoting for every situation being one of them). He doesn't quite take the back seat but his girlfriend Annalise takes more of the front stage as part of the story involves her, and then some! Poor girl is put through the wringer and develops into a very sad story providing some great domestic drama in between the action. This is where Karla excels, frankly, the ability to give us a full range of human emotion and great characters with dialogue, then have them running through a debris-strewn building trying to escape someone or thing.
Graig Bowles has really come into his own in the narration and does an excellent job here of keeping the pace and the quippy (and emotional ) dialogue..long may this continue for the next 5 (or more) novels.

Book 3, The Sniper: Just read it!
This audiobook pulled me in right from the start. If you haven't read the previous 2 Nick Sullivan books you have missed out on a real treat, but this title stands alone well enough to make you a fan anyway.
I love listening to the now-familiar narration by Craig Bowles, the series just wouldn't feel the same without his effortlessly professional telling of it.
So. Not another murder. No. This time the body count is racking up. Someone is taking out drivers of 4 x 4 vehicles, and he's enjoying every minute of the rampage. Who is he? And why is he traveling to Scotland, to the very place where Nick Sullivan's old university friend has made his home? And just why is he leaving a trail of death in his wake. Leading the way.
Find out. This book is grippingly real. I couldn't stop listening and I can't recommend it enough.

Cracker
This is the 3rd in the Nick Sullivan series and all 3 are brilliant. This one Annie is around a fair bit and Nick being himself again never thinking first, straight in 2feet. This one a soldier back from a warzone and with PTSD and goes on the rampage only on certain types of people, no clues as it will spoil but exciting fast and lots of annoying quotes the narration was good well crafted, really all 3 can listen/read as standalone novels, but 3 much better. as the main characters are the same.

Enjoyable
Really enjoyable, great characters. There are many different threads to this story which all tie up together at the end. This is the third Nick Sullivan Thriller and now that I have discovered him I will definitely be reading the 2 earlier books.
