 You couldn't really tell about Mama's brain just from looking at her, but it was obvious as soon as she spoke. She had a high voice, like a little girl's, and she only knew 23 words. I liked the dynamics of the relationships

I felt sorry for Sophie, but so much more for her boyfriend. if your like me with lots of empathy and put yourself in others shoes to try imagine their suffering you will understand and get so much more from this book.
The overall theme is loss. some losscannot be helped but others can be.
